Somewhere around 80/90mm. 4ish coils off the front 3ish off the back (I think, it's so long now I'm not sure). All fully captive. Used in this spec for three years or so possibly more, particularly as this is essentially the same suspension as the LX, but with a little more off the springs since then. No changes made specifically for passing MOT's along the way. Rear springs captive by reducing the travel of the rear shocks (new mounting point welded on further down the shaft, and the protruding shaft sleeved up to the thread inside the boot), fronts held captive by wiring the ends of the spring into the cups. Wheels and tyres are 7x13 Et0 with 165/55.
Cost, under a tenner - 1mm cutting disc and a small roll of stainless wire. It's not the comfort option though. I'f I'd been in the position to spend any money, and use time to trawl around some breakers, I'd probably have gone for the next £ per drop method, Matiz struts with dropped perches, and the ubiquitous Corsa and cut rear.
