Revs drop only a few seconds after releasing the throttle

Just bought a K11 1.0L Micra (1998). The car drives great. But it does a weird thing with the revs.
When you press the clutch and take your foot off the accelerator (like when you are coasting up to a set of lights), the revs stay higher for about 3-5 seconds before dropping to normal idle speed. I've had a quick look at the vacuum pipes and can't see anything wrong there, any ideas what else it could be? I'm thinking something throttle body related?

maybe its kinder on the syncro,s to hold some rpm when gear changing ? activated by the neutral switch and speed sensor,
disconnecting either/both may stop it happening ?

I believe it's to help prevent rpm dropping below idle when crawling in traffic while still in-gear.

When I disconnect my speed hall sensor via switch, it stops doing that and revs simply drop to idle when I dip clutch.
