Thought I'd let you know that the ECU in a K11 Micra can be replaced with a second hand (scrapyard sourced) one.
Having been told I was wasting my money by a number of Nissan garages, I got a second hand one (not even quite the same one, a 23710 1U101 instaed of a 23710 1U100) , with the plug which goes in the back which was also damaged, and got my local garage to connect the wires up.
The car wouldn't start, and a mobile autolocksmith couldn't reprogram it. There was a lot of talk about about how you need new blank ECUs, and how second hand ones won't work as they are permanently programmed to the chasis number of the vehicle.
I chanced paying the the cash to get a Nissan garage to have a go and success! £70 for reprogramming though!
