Rattle when starting engine

Hi, I get a rattle when I start the engine on my W-reg Micra 1.0 Profile. It usually stops after the engine has been idle for a few minutes.

Any ideas?

I think the last owner truly ragged this Micra as it's done 105K miles already and not had a service since 2005.

Not had a service since 2005?! Get one done asap!!! At least an oil change, oil filter, spark plugs and air filter.

The rattle is usually from the timing chain but should go quite quickly. It sounds like its lacking oil to pick up...

Get it serviced!

How did you change the oil filter without changing the oil fwn

just unscrewed it and put the new one on???

i changed the filter becuase the old one was leaking. just wanted to stop the leak.

released it would have been a good idea to change the oil at same time afterwards.

Problem is you've now got dirty old oil in the new filter!

Ideally you should drain the oil first, then new filter, followed by new oil.

well i know that now. i just wanted to stop the leak. didnt care about the oil if im being honest.
the new filter has only been on a few days and i havent really used the car.

no i didnt, changed the oil and it didnt make a difference. ill post the video tomorrow. if i remember
