Rally/Autotest Car

Iv got an autotest down in Carrickfergus on wed night beside the castle so if your in the area be sure to pop over and say hi :) also iv decided to put the micra on hold for a while and work on my kit car for autotesting when I'm 16 and then make the micra a lanes rally car for when I'm 17
 
Okay so haven't written in a while have been busy with exams and other projects. I bought lambda sensors for her as she wasnt running right and am yet to acquire a 22 mm spanner to get the old ones off so Iv that to look forward to. Then it will be retired for a year while I learn to test the special. When I'm 17 it will be getting caged and turned into a lanes rally car. Like rallying only aimed at production cars! Stages are typically 1-2 miles.
 
Friend took me a blast up the road in his 1 liter micra with 1.4 engine and 1 liter box!! Was absolutely epic! Fair bit quicker than mine. Hahaha, I don't think mine is running right the engine feels a bit dead at the minute I am in the process of changing lambda sensors in the hope that that will sort the problem but iv heard the air flow meter gives bother? Any body else having this problem any help greatly appreciated cheers!
 
Okay so i haven't written in a while but not much has been happening. I realized non of my pictures are visible so here is a link: http://s1358.photobucket.com They should be visible from there. Plans are to get the engine running right and the rear end polybushed as it tramps a bit during 360's and tail throws. I ended up 2nd overall in the junior championship, so will get the micra running well and go and attack in 2014, both the beginner and junior championship and hopefully get on well, then get my kit car finished. :D
 
Well another year begins soon, i will attack both championships and hopefully give the current leader i run for his money. Santa was extremely good to me getting me competition upper and lower trailing arms with poly bushes and a quick rack for my mk2 escort kit car. Hopefully have the kit running and do a few competitions practicing for the proper championship when i am 17 but due to being 16 i am not allowed to drive a kit car in the championship as its not a production car... Anybody any tips for the rear brake bias valve which connects to the upper trailing arm, atm iv no braking going to the back :/ Thanks

Im not sure what your reg's are for the autotesting etc mate but i spliced the rear brake lines together, removed the factory bias adjuster and fitted a Tilton valve. Been on for 4 years now and never had any trouble :)

PS Not jealous you have a MK2 at all!! Had a go in one at Phil price rally school, was great fun on full lock!
 
Ah well its not really an escort, its an escort in disguise as a kit car, so lighter and faster and more nimble.....In theory its still a work in progress. (Can see magenta lsr here, aka mk2 escort kit car http://s1358.photobucket.com ). I was thinking about fitting a hydraulic handbrake by blanking off one of the rear brake lines and rerouting the other down the middle of the car. Sending it through the handbrake then through a bias valve then down to a T piece before splitting to the two drums. Any ideas if that would work?
 

This is what the micra and magenta (will) do. Its cheap, fun and due to being 16 and not having a license the only form of driving i get to do. :D

you,re gonna lose the (failsafe) diagonal split system tho eh paul :)
 
Got competition trailing arms on and brake bias bracket on. Put the sensor onto bracket and wound it up to the top so shes quite tail happy when left foot braking / downshifting. :D :D. I am out tomorrow at the first round of the new championship so hopefully hit the ground running and get a class win. Ill go out for a practice tonight to tweak suspension and practice a bit, since i don't have a license the last time i drove was a few months ago :p. Still have lumpy tick over and slow acceleration :/ any ideas? I have replaced both oxygen sensors but to no avail :(. I have also put it on a diagnostic machine but says that there isn't a problem....don't know what my next step will be.

Have you checked the timing woody? Think 15deg @ 750k rpm is the factory setting
 
Had a look in the manual at how to set the timing but i cant mines is a 1.4 so runs off an ecu :( Any other suggestions as to what it could be? :/ Cheers

the maf is the usual suspect woody, have you tried it with the maf disconnected ?
 
Gave up and took it back to dealers and they couldnt find anything wrong!! They suggested a bent valve due to constant over revving? Anybody had similar issues?

Finally got micra back from various garages who could fix the problem and its back to its former glory :D I have an event on Saturday so it will be interesting to see how i get on :D.
 
Finally back on form !!! 10th overall and let all the other juniors in the dust!! Good event all be it the rear bumper was redesigned by a wall :p
 
Long time since I have posted anything, been swamped in A levels and road car mods and kit car. Have not done much to mirca but I did get my mk2 escort kit car running... Have a look :) Micra will more or less be retired for a few years. It was an autotest car but now I have my kit car finished my micra will be a lanes rally car when I can afford to insure it.

 
I haven't posted in a while as i got my firt road car, 1.4 golf... then my second 1.6 golf and both needed work might need a third soon :( . But micra hasnt had much done to it recently so have decided to sell it for another junior to enjoy, i will put the money i get towards my kit car or maybe a micra for the road. Insurance is too dear on mine to justify using it as a daily or I would :(
 
Have had a change of heart and micra is staying, I am welding a cage in and going to do targa rallies... Was wondering if anyone had dimensions of material needed to make a roll cage
