Q: Need assembly advice on k10 brake sliders URGENT PLS

g'day my fellow micra k10-ists !

this is claus from kiel in northern germany (if that matters).
im new to THIS micra forum, but member of german nissanboard since 2007.

the object is my k10 built 1992, 54hp, 1.2 ltr everything standadrd no frills,
an economic, reliable, practical, lightweight fully unspectacular little friend. i love it.
my question after changing brake pads and disc is:

WHAT IS THE CORRECT POSITION OF THE BRAKE PAD SLIDING STRIPS ?

they sit between a milled surface of the brake cylinder cast iron housing
and the arms of the brake pads, are made of stainless steel and avoid rust and friction.

on one end of these little strips is a FEATHERING ARM about 20mm long and 4mm wide.
my question is all about WHERE TO POSITION THIS FEATHERING FUNCTIONAL ARM
- is it mounted showing outside - into the air ?
- is it mounted showing inside, feathering against the anti dust bellows over the sliding bushes ?
- as the strips are mounted opposite: is one of these arms outside and the other inside ?

what is the function of this feathering arm anyhow ?
if it is to keep the pads free from the disc, avoid friction, overheating, rusting, premature brake failure ...
i appreciate it, as i have to grease and unblock the brake piston every 2 years.
this week i istalled new piston rings, rubber bellows and dust caps front and rear,
to avoid the annual brake service hazzle. thats why i am pedantic now.

repair manual doesnt show the details,, so all experience based advice welcome,

hi frank,

sure, its proudly made in japan (not a frog nissan)
the front brakes are tokico made, the piston diameter is 45mm.

and here i found an image, which shows the finger/arm on their side
which i am unsure wher to position

its probably gonna be a different setup to the one shown in the haynes manual eh claus, maybe the same brakes as the k11 march ?

its the brakes, not a game for tinkerers. sorry.

k10 is k10, and the question is simple: where to put the lash.

frank, as i understand the link to the brake pad discussion,
it seems that brake-wise, nissan continental models differ from brit or japanese models -
which i doubt as mass production aims to avoid just that, except for maybe lights, steering or so.
i think ill ring the local nissan dealer or just cycle there, much faster than puzzling people here.

however, thanks to you for spending time with me on such a topic.
next time, ill make a foto first before diassembling anything ... stupid me

i think that makes sense, cause that long arm shouldnt interfere with he rubber bellows, right ?
this was exactly what patient frank and stupid me wasted HOURS on discussing,

Correct. The long tail is for holding it in place and removing it next time around.
