Power steerig problem?

My steering has taken a turn for the worse! it is pre face lift with power steering on it. when i first start the car the power steering squeaks alot and has an occasional clunk when i dry steer (yes i know i shouldn't) and when dirving normally it can be nice and light steering and all of a sudden it will become very heavy.
anyone got any ideas on what it could be?

Could possibly be the pump? See if you can get a new one, and if the same keeps happening, take it in to Nissan.
