Haha, I was just bout to right that!

Ok, il give it a go, get £50 rebuild kit, and see if I can get everything working together first, then maybe replace it or get another exhaust housing, like you said, before it turns into a money pit

i always grind seats upside down pork, if any of that stuff works its way down to the guides and it,ll smoke/drink oil forever, i find a length of rubber tube that fits snug on the stem, and use a drill on slow speed

Rob

Cosworth turbo'd 1.3
I had the same issue with my housing on the T3.

Heat the turbo up with a blow torch till its glowing, weld a nut to to the stud and try that.

If not BIG mule grips on the stud and blow torch

Test fitted the head today, jus to see what fits (or doesn't)

So how it sits on my bench

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350921801.857607.jpg

And in the car
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350921825.102372.jpg

Almost mates up with existing exhaust

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350921856.224934.jpg

Bit worried about how close the turbo is to the radiator
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350921891.886448.jpg

Also it's blocking off the radiator hose :(

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1350921928.834536.jpg

Unsure of which way to go, move the rad, reposition turbo (hard option!!),

Could I jus get a heat shield for the turbo? Can I turn down the port from the top of the radiator 90 degrees with a new made up hose?

Critical moment now, and would appreciate any input whatsoever :)

it,ll move the hotside away from the spout tho eh, then shift the rad forwards maybe ?

Yeah, but then the exhaust outlet on the turno withe the downpipe will foul on the gearbox, Il have to have a better look tomorrow, :) hopefully when it's not peeing down. Was thinking off moving the rad to the other side, be a lot cheaper then buying/ making another mani,

Not at all. I am impressed. I would love to weld but haven't a clue. Maybe you have inspired me to just go get one and give it a go.
Are you using a mig? how did you find the learning curve. Think it is something anyone can learn??
Sorry for all the questions ;)

Thanks :)

Yeah it's all with mig.

I jus jumped straight in. Should of done a couple of practice pieces first! It gets a lot easier with practice :D

All the plenum is made from mild steel, the thing I'm worried about is whether the welds will be air tight :( apparently your ment to go over it with oxy torch and melt everything together a bit better, or tig weld.

But I'm not to sure, I'm a complete novice, so if I can give it a go, anyone should be able too!
