painting a rocker cover

Dont want to seem stupid but could someone please explain the best process for painting a rocker cover?

Have it grit blasted, primer coat with heat resistant paint.
A couple of coats of more heat paint in the colour you want.
I have a cleaned one for sale on the for sale section now.

Also for a longer lasting finish use heat resistant clear lacquer! B-)
