got a question.

my gf's ford Ka is due some oil. There's no hand book and i cant get signed up to the ford Kack owners club for some reason. So does anyone know if there's a website or something which will tell me what type of oil it needs or do you even know?? its a 2001 model. 1300cc....

just ask at the motor factors where you get the oil from. they should be able to help if they're as good as the one i use. failing that a ford dealership is only a phone call away.

think its injection so just the same stuff we stick in the micras shud b good

10w-40 for <50,000 miles and 15w-40 for > 50,000 miles

fords use a specific detergent in their oil,, youl need the 5w30 oil, it say specificaly "for all modern ford engines" on the bottle....

its a light bluey silver colour if im not mistaken...

10 - 40 is good enough for all cars...15 - 40 is thicker (for diesels mostly) and 5-30 is for the posh new engines like (Zetec's n all that lot)
But oil is oil....Some is better than None. ;)

I think o_O

pls correct me if im wrong :D

oil is not oil. Mobil 1 is fully synthetic oil. Much better than your average oil. Mobil 1 is great for cold starts, or a car thats used for short runs quite often. And also the car is much quiter and smoother.

i cant now hear my timing chain......at all.....after changing from 15-40 to 0-40 mobil 1

my dad used to swear by it in his old car, before he couldnt use it any more...(mazda wouldnt warenty it unless he used their oil..)

Yup, same here. Timing chain much quieter. My Nissan dealer said the same, "your warranty will exipire", but we dont care. The car will run better and probably last longer. But they don't really know what oil is in there after a while, because it goes very dark :).

The 10-40 we use is fully Synt.....What i was trying to say was....Any oil is Better than None...you can run a car on all sorts of oil types...just that some oils are better than others.

I would rather use my normal 10-40 than really thin oil that costs 2 times as much and doesnt last as long. fwn

ooh there was a video af a 1.5 civic that ran on no oil or water for 8 minutes on full throttle without so much as a hickup....

try that in your FORD or Vauxhall.......

sorry im gonna have to wash my mouth out now!!

Find out what engine it is first. I know the ford Ka here in australia was given a 1970's escort pushrod motor and used oil which resembled a syrup.
