Nissan micra k12 boot issues

Hey there.

I've got a 55 plate Nissan micra k12 (I believe it's a k12) and have been having issues with the boot lock. For about 3 months the boot would randomly open for no reason, even while I was driving along. Then after it would not open at all!! My dad managed to get it open and took the panel off and had a look and tested all the wiring and such, but the boot would still not open when you use the switch. Anyways. Cut long story short, he tested all the wiring and found there was power to the motor and the motor worked, but for some reason the boot wouldn't work. He had to wire the boot to my cigarette lighter so that at least I could open and lock the boot but the ignition had be on!

Not a problem at first but now it's really annoying especially being female I want to shove shopping in there without having to start the car first!!

Does any one have any idea what this could be? Or a good fix for it. Everything is working great since he done that to it but it's not practical.

With a multimeter and a circuit diagram, a competent DIY person can reinstate the original
circuit and then diagnose the snags.

Good luck :)
