I have had a few autotests/Gymkhanas but not had much luck! Will upload pictures and details on my events for you all. Enjoy!

Heres a picture of me on my second Gymkhana in Walters arena.

I dont know will have to have a look at it, its only something that came as part of the spares with the car so i thought to make the car look a bit different i would fit it on and it doesnt look that bad.

Here is a friend of mine in the car showing that a couple of grand micra can out do a 20 grand escort when driven properly! This car has a giant killing pedigree!

Sadly theres not alot of events local in that area i normally travel about half and hour to 45 minutes to my nearest events, will keep you posted as to when they are.

Sprint went amazing! On the first stage i caught a 1550cc mini and caught a 2.0l toyota starlet on the same stage....Car didnt miss a beat! Didnt have to do anything to it all day, No need for oil, water or even fuel which was a bonus! Dont know the final result but out of 53 cars (which i had the smallest engine) i think i came around 20th overall. Happy Days!

If you have the money for that range of cams I would strongly advise you to rather buy the Sony HDR AS15 action cam.
If you watch every tests on youtube comparing it to the gopro you will see video is better, audio is also better (audio quality is gopro biggest weak point) an you can use any regular jack mic (on gorpo you have to buy specific mic) and wifi module is already integrated so you don't have to buy it separatly (very useful to check camera orientation via live view on your computer or android or ios phone, or to start recording from distance)

a few tests:

Demonstration of the wifi:

Yes that does look better so its worth a look! The Go Pro is just an easy way out for me as it comes with mounts and waterproofing for motorsport use all in one box

Indeed cameras/DSLRs/video recorders mounts are all the same, standard thread reference 1/4-20, except the Gopro, so be careful. Anyway I dont think you want to keep the current tripod setup.

The Sony action cam comes with a waterproof case too:

I think with your setup you should go for the bar mounting on your rollcage:

Damn, at first I only wanted to convince you but now I want one myself so BAD !

Yeah i know im going to lose my tripod but that was just a last minute thing i threw in and used the family camcorder! and Yes i know need some improvement but its the first time ive rallying on tarmac and was the first proper outing in the car so didnt want to break it! haha! Next time it will be useed...just need to move the limiter up abit i think, its set to 6,400 at the moment.

Here's some real world GoPro test footage. Ignore the over exposed outside, it was setup purely to monitor all the in-car gauges due to it being the car's first outing so we could watch everything back afterwards. Proved helpful as it turned out the car was massively overcooling.

I use superclamps for mounting things to the rollcage, I find them to be extremely secure and vastly more robust than anything from GoPro and also good on price. GoPro have a standard 1/4" tripod mount which is dirt cheap, so that's no issue. Yes, it's a pain to have to buy one separately but that's GoPro's wonderful modular marketing for you ;) The superclamps are also a good option if you want to avoid splashing out on a new cam and use an existing older & heavier unit, as they will handle a 3kg load.

Some of the HD cameras do indeed have better sound than others but none have decent quality audio as I would define it. For that you have to go for an external mic regardless of the camera.

Yes the problem i have is that the roll cage comes to a cross in the centre for extra strength and its a pain to get a mount to fit in the centre of the cross but i will work it out when i get a camera! Got a winter break to get all the bits done on the car and thats on the list.

Quite a simple solution, either one of these will allow you to clamp close up to the center section and then level out the camera.

A double ball tilt head gives the most flexibility, a snitch under £60.

or a smaller ball head clamp, (cheaper at a snitch under £50), can achieve a level cam but is less forgiving than the above.

Well all being ok i should be out! If i can't get my GTM ready then the mighty Micra will be wheeled out one last time before she goes for her upgrades!! Say Hello!
Cheers Darren

Yes will do! Be nice to see another fellow micra driver out on the stages! Pembrey is a popular venue for them and i hope to be doing it a few times next year as its local for me.
