New Section: 2010 Nissan Micra (K13)

James

Chairman
Hello everyone!

I've updated the forums to include the inevitable - we have a Micra 2010 (K13) forum on here now! The reasons for which will become apparent in the coming weeks.

Anyway, with the K13 not officially shipping to the UK until November this forum will be used for discussion about the car as a whole at the moment.

Facts about the car so far:

  • Currently, just a 1.2 litre HR12DE engine with a manual and CVT drivetrain
  • Plans to introduce a 1.0 HR10DDT supercharged and turbocharged engine
  • Possibility of also introducing a 1.5 and higher output 1.2 engine based on the HR series
  • Being built in Chennai, India, marking a departure from Sunderland after over 17 years of building the Micra
Anyway, as I said, more will be revealed next week after JAE! ;)

James.

That's cool but we still haven't got a k12 section on the front page...

If you click on Home at the top, it just lists K10 and K11. I've tried it on Opera, Chrome, IE and firefox as well. No k12. I know it exists because you PM'd me the link to my radio article, just can't access it from the main page :).

So it's missing from the list that I see here:

Might be a permissions issue, I'll look into it!

I think it looks better than the K12 did then or even now.

Yeah i have to agree, there was one 1 k12 that i actually really liked, and i've forgotten what it is (Probably the one with the 350z engine in it haha.)

But the orange nissan micra picture, i think it certainly follows on from k11 more then the k12, lets hope its as reliable.

i posted a video of this on the M69 near leicester a few months back if anyone saw it. It had its badges hidden lol

It looks like the front of a fiat grande punto with the back end of one of those tiny little peugeot/citreon things with the doggy flap boot lid. I'm not sure i like the idea of the double-charger possability, there can only really ever be the origional super turbo. The ST was built to slap honda in the face and pizzle all over their 'city turbo' of the day. I think it's just hype, like when bmw launched the mini.

To be honest i don't think there's a market for k13's because we've got the 'note' and then there's the 'pixo' (which is pointless i think), so those two cars are taking up sales that otherwise would have gone to the micra. I think that car manufacturers in general have created too many extra categories and sub-categories in the car market, to the point where they're kinda robbing their own cars of sales figures if you see what i mean.

I know people aren't gonna like this bit but i think that the 'note' should have been the new micra, it certainly looks better that the 'juke'... even the name sucks, i mean it say's juke but you kinda see joke lol. Nissan you tarts get it together and stop putting out crap.

Have to agree with you there pork, nissan are capable of so much better, but their ideas are just being generated from no where,

I like the k13 better then the k12 (Well except the 350z'd version haha) but nothing will ever replace the k11 and k10 ;).

Nissan you tarts get it together and stop putting out crap.
yeh but some will love it
and a new micra should have been built around the k10 look-nissans way of saying sorry "we havent produced another real micra since the k10"

By all accounts this thing drives worse than a K12 and is considered slightly retrograde in some areas , but I suppose the typical buyer won't complain...Too much junk in nissans line up these days...

Mind you at least they still produce 1 interesting car, unlike Toyota...

I couldn't say I found it worse to drive than the K12? What one are you trying to compare it with?

I live out in Thailand and, after a 5 month wait, have recently got my K13 March (Micra). I got the pearlescent white 1.2E (manual gear) model and I have to say I love it. It's a nice smooth ride, lots of space (for a supermini) a decent stereo and plenty of "get up and go". I've had lots of positive comments from people who see me in it - nothing negative so far!

I especially love the fuel economy. During the first 300km I have averaged 18km per litre according to the computer. That means on a full tank of 41 litres I have a huge range for a small car - and my cash still in my wallet! :grinning:

Keep us updated, It will be interesting to see how you get on with it!

Alright, since it seems at least a couple of people are interested...

Apparently 3 cylinder engines are prone to vibration at idle speed. This engine certainly does not suffer from that. Even with the stereo turned off I almost have to look at the rev counter at idle to confirm that it hasn't stalled - not that it has ever stalled of course! My previous car was a bit of a banger, so having this level of quiet and lack of vibration is a revelation to me!

My 1.2E is the second most basic model available in Thailand (you get a much better range of model options in the UK, see http://www.nissan.co.th/march/main.html to see what we get - mostly in English language) but even mine has a rev counter; computer that can show current km/L, average, km/l, range on current fuel tank, and two trip meters; seats with adjustable height/length bases; 3 interior lights; interior lights that dim away nicely following a pause after you lock the car; adjustable length delay on intermittent wipers; electric mirrors; nicely controllable AC and heater' and quite a few other nice touches...

I've been surprised at the level of gadgetry/slickness on what is an entry level model (ignoring the completely no frills super basic model on offer). I recall a friend having a basic model Micra in the UK about 15 years ago (maybe longer - I forget!) and it didn't even have intermittent wipers at all. What a huge omission on Nissan's part in a country famous for endless drizzle. What a pain it was to drive constantly turning wipers on and off on the way to work on a cold drizzly morning...

I love my car! (Y)

If anyone has any questions about the car please ask away...

PS My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that on bumpy concrete roads it's a bit bouncy compared to my previous car. My previous car was a much larger car, however - a Hyundai Elantra, so no real surprise there.

Hey jim, this is already so cool to have someone with a k13 on the forum, i think if i were you i would review the car, take pictures of everything etc, hows it performance wise? it looks like your driving miles very well! The suspension sounds familliar haha, would be nice to see the suspension system actually,

you done any 0 to 60 or 100@km runs yet? we all love micra acceleration haha,

Maybe get some pictures up maytey!
Thanks for information so far!!
