New car guys :)

Hey guys,
I am braced for the abuse about the new car to replace the micra, but I couldn't leave the banter and the fantastic advice of MSC for the chavs on the other forums ;)
Anyway picked up a 206 2.0 HDI 05 plate with 64k on the clock. Few plans already being formed but first was the timing belt :( booked in for Terraclean and rolling road at WG tuning on the 1st of March. Then start on my list of things to do :)

My first question however is where to start with diesel tuning? exhaust inlet etc.?

On another note bought a dashcam after the recent discussion on here from other members been a cracking piece of kit so far just need to have a play with it in the dark but ill attach a video.

Anyway thanks for reading guys, hopefully be here for a few years with this car and hope to still get some fantastic advice of you all (other than to sell the car)

Cheers Nath

Straight through exhaust for epic noise if it dumps into exhaust :p

Other than that you can pick up these which do make a difference, my mate had a cheapy version on his 1.9 Vectra bumped it from 130 to 150 iirc

Been looking into chips with it only being the 90 hp version :( terraclean and rolling road then go from there :)

Want to sort the sound out, maybe dump valve for the added effect ;) haha

Thats buggered that one then haha, in fairness cars nice and clean and does pull pretty well, would just like to make it a bit more personal and get a little bit more power from it :)

If it's a must just google DBW dump valve. A lack of a throttle plate simply means it becomes electro-mechanical instead of purely mechanical.

Hi guys, looking to put a front mount intercooler on this, looked on the peugeot forums and a lot of people have done it but talk about removing a/c, moving the fan etc (which I rather like haha) Anyway seen 1 guy that put this behind the radiator. Now they all jumped up and said he shouldnt of done and needs to move it to the front. Just wondered though if I fitted it behind at an angle and directed air upto the intercooler would there be an issue? Any input will be muchly appreciated :)

Hey, I'm hoping the more technical minded members can help me here, looking into the re-map using the company recommended by @Enuo. Basically from what I can see currently I can only do a stage 1 map, giving me 120bhp and 270nm @ 2500rpm (standard figures are 90bhp and 205 nm @2000rpm) I understand basic principles of torque in that it is the rotational movement (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) but how much of a difference will I feel in the car with this map? Also would it worth deleting the EGR at the same, I don't have any issues with it but they can do it for free whilst re-mapping.

Unfortunately having had my car on a ramp at work I cant see much potential for an intercooler without heavy modifications. this is the space behind my radiator :

which for me personally rules out the stage 2 map at least for now. Any help with understanding what difference I will feel with the remap with as always be greatly appreciated :)

Ed doesn't do 'Stages', he'll just push the car as far as he, you and the components are happy with, which varies massively depending on engine prep, components and how big your testes are :)

I recomended this guy because my mate got his 206 remapped there (as the test subject for the stage 1 map) and he's yet to have a problem. Can't really recomend the tuning boxes as they are an unknown.

Sorry for the confusion haha, yeah seen boxes but not overly keen seen a couple at work and the issues they can cause. Would like to get itndone properly by someone who knows what they're doing, just really wondering if that is 'a lot' of extra torque and whether the egr delete is worth it when currently inhave no issues with it? :)

I removed egr on my GA and its ran much happier in hot weather, it essentially thins the air out so not great really.

more questions about intercooler tuning  haha well after investigation noticed this big stupid thing called an airbox that the French filled a massive void with.

which would be intercooler size I think ;) and I would be able to use the air inlet (big pipe) as my duct? But is there a certain size of cooler I would need or is it just a case of bigger is better?
And how would I then modify the inlet. A cone filter would do? this is the pipe once the airbox is removed:

or could I leave the pipe as that (the mesh as the filer) and then create a cold air feed of some sort so its not using air from under the bonnet.

and another one whilst having some spare time having a poke about under the bonnet, does anybody know about manual boost controller and boost gauges? would I be correct in thinking I mount them in line with this:

as always thank you for sharing your knowledge before I bite the bullet and get started right on this car :)

oh and an actual update for once...... new wheels :D gti 18o wheels to be precise. Just need to decide what colour(s) and get them refurbed :)

60mm lower should see her sitting pretty for when I gave the money to get the remap and everything done :)

your boost control is probably vacuum operated nath (via the ecu) you would need to increase the boost before fitting an I/C

I have read it isn't controlled electronically on these Frank so reqs a manual boost controller?
seems the 90hp ones are just a basic pressure fed wastegate eh nath, so yes a simple boost controller :)
90hp is pretty low for a 2.0 commonrail tdi, so there,s good gains to be had, i would test out a boost controller and then fit a fmic personally

that might be a pressure sensor or purge valve for egr maybe nath ?
best to fit a boost gauge and test out some settings really, and then if you can raise the level without any fuel-cut or mil light kicking in then go for it :)

Definitely need a look then, seemed a bit far away from the turbo haha looks like theres a lot of potential from the engine reading that blog though :)

Hey, hope everybody is okay not been on in a while. Quick catch up... the 206 has gone for another pug, 208 gti now ;) now the fun bit, can the gurus on here explain ITBs to me please? Looking at purchasing a car to mess with for track days and had a go in a saxo 1.6 with them but would like some info to understand them? Cheers :D
