Mysterious battery drain

Hi all,

I know it's probably bad manners to start your membership with asking for help, but I am currently at my wits end with my 2001 K11. I took the car to three different specialists already, put money into some new parts and nothing seems to help. Mechanics just keep telling me it's very unusual and that they don't know what else to do. And here's what's been happening:
For the last six months I've been having a dying battery issue. It would sometimes die overnight, so I'd take it home to recharge it, but it would die again 1-2 weeks later. Then it started happening more frequently, and about 3 months ago it started to die while driving. The car would start normally, but after 5-10 mins the engine would lose rpms, a seatbelt light would come on, weirdly enough, and speedometer got stuck at 20 km/h, regardless of actual speed. And when I slowed down or stopped the car just dies and won't start again. No revving, just clicking.
The first garage said the alternator was not charging, so they replaced it. 2 months later - same thing happens! Took the car back, they say the alternator is fried and the battery has a bad cell or two, so replaced both. A couple of weeks later, guess what... the return of the Zombie Micra. Same symptoms and all, battery dead as a dodo, so I decided to try another garage.
And, surprise surprise, they say it's the alternator's fault  But since it'd already been replaced twice, they had it bench tested, and it seemed in perfect working order. And then, all of a sudden, the car mysteriously came back from the dead and did not display ANY problems. So I took it back home, drove perfectly fine, even better that usual I'd say, and died again 2 days later. :(
Also, OBD keeps showing P0141 and, sometimes, P0136, although the HO2 sensor was replaced a couple of years ago.
Please, please, help! I desperately need the car to work in about a week and honestly don't know what else to do...:(

A buddy had a very similar problem on an Orion many moons ago and after a small fortune wasted the problem lay in the starter motor bushes being excessively worn. Something to do with the ignition circuit being affected stopping proper battery charging making it look like a battery or alternator defect. It was discharging the battery when parked too. Worth a look at your starter bushes. I believe you can strip and replace the bushes for a few quid. Good luck

Hi, thank you so, so much for your reply. Haven't had the starter looked at at all, so I'll have it done first thing tomorrow.
And the small fortune wasted - check! Probably as much as the car is worth by now to someone who wouldn't be so attached to it :)
I also forgot to add that the turn signals have stopped working when locking/unlocking a while ago, one side first, then the other. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't done anything about it. Could be completely unrelated, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case.

Check the earth cable between the engine and body/chassis .Had same problem few years back with volvo. Bolt that went through earth strap at engine had corrosion build up inside thread so poor connection. Get a volt meter and check voltage across battery then keep meter lead on battery positive and move negative meter lead onto engine block or even the alternator casing. Good luck.
