Flipping eck ems! Very cool. Lots of my mates are bike nuts so I have worked on a few of them. The R6 is a very mental bike.

Keep safe with it:)

Lol, i've been a bike nut since i was about 12!!! So yeah i'm very chuffed!! And i'm going to be sensible on it, no point otherwise! But i might take it to a few track days to let it have a good stretch!! :D

Woah, go carefully! I'm sure you will, but take it slowly at first.

A very good friend of mine owns an R1, now that is nutty o_O .

Oh, you look good in leather ;)

Hehe, don't ban me Alan!

I do believe I just had a bike-gasm. What a lovely piece of machinery.
For a 1st bike that has a lot of power, be careful.

LOL, he laughed so i think your safe!!

I used to know a lot of people back in Oxford that were supersport loons. My first pillion ride was on a ZX9R, they're a bit old now tho lol. I know a couple of people down this way now, but will soon meet loads more obv!! Looking forward to attending Box Hill at some point.

And don't worry, i'm not a bloke, i'm not going to thrash it until i know how it handles properly. The previous owner was a girl, a year older than me. It was her first bike too. She's moving onto a gixer 750 next year.

Yeah even i want it but that's not going to happen! Sitting on it made it feel really small, but looking at it, it's quite a beast! I'm sure Ems will be safe, and there's no reason really why it's a bad first bike, as i know she'l behave! It's in excellent condition too

A friend of mine got an R6 as his first bike, moss. he used to be on here. He said it was so powerful compared to the bikes you pass your test on he didnt dare open it up for the first few weeks.

Pretty much correct there wrenchable! although she wanted the bike first. We're meant to be saving up for a house lol but decided we both wanted to spend the money on this & the car instead :)

Lol, yeah right!! If anything i'd make that bike go slower & glow a floresent yellow so stupid drivers can see it! I think Ems said it was capable of 170mph, so that's fast enough already lol

Fat ppl r harder 2 kidnap
Ems that looks awesome, i see you have the older version R6, these are actually more nutty than the new ones!

Seeing as it seems there are loads of bikers on here im gonna attempt a plug.. www.thelondonbikers.com .. ive enjoyed 1000's of "knee down" miles with this lot and they are just as nice as the people in the MSC. They do slow rideouts which is what i went on when i moved from my 500cc to a 1200cc and they help you get the feel of the bike as riding it slow is much harder than pinning the throttle!

PS: Take alan on the back show him what real accelleration feels like :p, just dont let slip it can break all known speed limits in 1st gear .. DOH lol

Maybe not from the 600, But from the more powerful bikes :p

The bike is still limited, More likely then just below it's top speed.

Lol, i'm suprised how many of you like it :) Which is nice, and also obvious

And yeah it's a 2001 model, but in excellent cond. Only 5700 miles on the clock :)

And as ian said, i'll be copying his mate by holding it back, except i'll be doing that for a few months rather than a few weeks!!!

And i wouldn't dream of turboing a bike!!! Ed, what did you do to your mates?

ollyc98

Ex. Club Member
The 997cc R1 does 214 but they limit that :(
A turbo on it would be a laugh right before you explode from acceleration.

It's like my bike but with tonnes of plastic weighing it down!!! hehe.

V jealous Arnold :p My better half says's she wants to ride but has only ever been out on mine once :( and then I didn't go over 60!

there not 'that' expensive. You can get a dirt cheap CG250 for next to nothing and still get the thrills of two wheeled motoring. My FZ6's 3.7 0-60 is enough for me at the moment, come the summer I'll prob want more.

Well done Ems, thats a cracking first bike, the full power R6 is a good intro to sports bikes, the straight 4 is nice and smooth with plenty on tap. Unlike the FZ6 with its notchy throttle response and lack of weather protection.

Bikes are cheap enough, I bought a 1978 Honda 125 off a mate for 45 quid.
You can get a newer bike for a £750 if you buy a cheap chinese copy.

Pete

Yeah there are chinese copies of the Suzuki SV650 that are better built (!) than the Suzuki.

Love the R6, great colour.

Lol, Olly, people wear leathers coz they're sensible :p If you fall off a bike at as little as 30mph theres a chance your clothes will fuse into your skin and you'll bleed to death before the ambulance arrives!! Tarmac loves skin!!! :s

Why do so many people own a Bandit or Fazer LOL!! They're butt ugly!! And Pete, i don't like naked's either :p

i've already spent over 300 on my kit!! I'd say buy it all first, coz i know like me i wouldn't have been able to afford it now!

I know, my mate fell off his Daytona (I love that bike) as he skidded on some diesel out of a junction and got really bad road rash. They wrote the bike off though, it only had a scratch on the plastics.

the reason people get the bandit, is cos its almost like the "escort cossie" of the bike world, fairly quick, easily modded, and a HUUUUGE following across the world,

my dads bike wasnt any old bandit, it was a1996 600N that was owned by the Founder of the bandit and SV owners club, every nut and bolt was ploished or stainless, the engine was chromed, the wheels where polished, it had done 27,000 miles and sold it for £1700.well more than its worth.
