My missing bits?

I have a Micra K11 SE+ CVT 2002, I can't find a kick down cable or at first look and brushes or brush pack, thee are no swithches on the accelerator or the brake pedal except for a basic brake light switch, and not as described in the Haynes manual I have. The VIN is SJNFDAK11U4240885. The 1.4 engine is one of the best I have ever heard simple, quiet, and really powerful!
Sadly, the gear box is a bit "odd" It will pull away quite well most times, or it will lurch twice, when I lift of and try again and it will drive off. After pulling away the box will either hit a sort of semi neutral where there is some drive if it is not some sort of clutch slip it could be the CVT varying the ratio at will giving the rising revs and lowering speed the box will kick in OK when warm and around 40mph.
I have changed the fluid and filter this gave a small improvement making the car at least drivable but hills are a problem some time if ithe engine etc is cold at other times it will get up and go very well, I thought it might be brush wear giving the lumpy pulling away and perhaps the kick down being too tight, making it try to go up or go down at the same time, sort of speed says up, kick down says down, but no cable on the throttle cable or throttle quadrant on the engine or clutch isolator swithes on the pedals.
Could this be a pre update model with mixed bits on it?
It is a very nice clean car with all the bits all working bar this problem and deserves to be fixed up, It is my first foray into CVT's and I need help, if there is a known and reliably honest place or person in Yorkshire that may be able to sort it out please let me know, Nissan wants more, much more than I paid for the car.

So in the lack of other information, the kick down must work off the electronics on the throttle throttle shaft?
If the cable is too tight might this trigger the odd gear behaviour the gear selector cable is OK and selects well it is the odd jump on setting off some times and its hanging onto gears too long, both up and down, and the strange seemingly partial loss of drive it is hard to tell if it is driving or not the car slows but not in the manner it would with no drive at all. The box is full of new Dexron 3 fluid but should be TQF, could this be a factor?
