My K12 Head Unit Swap!

Hello all,

First post here so firstly i'd like to say hello! I'm Dan, I've got a 05 'Urbis' 1.2, recently inherited it and it's my first car.

Very impressed with it overall though!

First thing i needed to do was to strip out the existing head unit, i couldn't cope with the original Blaupunkt one due to the constant skipping and "CDERROR" messages.

Decided upon the JVC KD-BT11 Bluetooth Head Unit.

Very nice it is too!

Wanted to keep the original steering controls so bought an interface to allow that and also a JVC patch lead for it.

Fitting the headunit was pretty simple, following the guide on here.

The guides however mentioned screws under the ash/coin tray? I didn't need these.

My Micra has the trip computer, the screws/bolts that needed to be removed are:

3 Bolts under top of dashboard
2 Screws behind top of trip computer panel
2 Screws underneith head unit

The whole console then lifts out.

Fitted and working, the only thing i didn't realise was that i'd need an aerial adaptor, this was sorted when i received the interface, i bought an adaptor.

Just thought i'd update this so that if anyone else is looking for it then the JVC is a cracking head unit to go for.

All factory fitted other than the headunit itself and it integrates perfectly, also looks pretty nice and matching too!

Thanks,

Dan
