Motty's Micra-Japfest '13 here we come!

Back in August I took delivery of my new other half, George, from no other than my grandparents. This is him the day I went and picked him up!

I decided it was best to get used to him first off without playing about with him for a few weeks. Ended up taking him to Marshall the world rally championship in Wales where he outdid himself on the muddy welsh stages and got some awesome go pro footage :p

Couple of weeks later my dad brought home a single oz superturismo to try on and to see if it fitted, because someone at work was flogging a set for 100 sheets! Whacked it on and surely enough it fitted!

Decided to just take the hit knowing I would be able to flog them on for more than I payed(sold them today for £160 :D) and was just amazed it didn't rub!

I decided to opt for a decat centre pipe and hollowed out manifold cat! The results were very surprising!

Hope the video works :p if not here's a picture...

Sounds mental and spits fire, win win situation. (Filmed away from a redone tail area as not to kill any old people or animals...init xD )
After a month or so of the "ice racer look" I found some pulsar brakes, clio RSI wheels and apex lowering springs, and decided to pounce and get the lot!

I had my heart set on lowering it after I noticed it this low at the petrol station :p
6C6B6B0C-D634-47EC-94C2-52AC0F36A723-11404-000006EDFD6B58E3.jpg

Once I had found the springs I just sat about and waited untill I could get my hands on some harder updated shocks as I had become fed up with the wheelbarrows of body roll I found the micra had! Then these came along...

Not the prettiest but well worth the price!
Got my wheel wrapped in new pirelli's I acquired off of a friend and voila! A massive improvement on the 17's :)
60B0A1F0-7A08-4140-9AF9-A3A7C4A9CDE5-11404-000006EE2CBB7400.jpg

Was amazed to find I had as much grip with the 175/65/14's as I did with the 205/40/17's :)

Next on the list was to lower him! So when I had the garage to myself, got the boys over and que the music!
2 bolts later the rears were off, old springs were out, new springs were in and it was time to put the bolts back in!

A60784E5-990D-41EF-A6A3-F35F9ED269D3-11404-000006EE50DD868E.jpg

And the finished rear looked a little like this :)
BA925293-8329-48CF-AB8F-A8539F0BA930-11404-000006EE57BB9C58.jpg

Rear wheels back on and time for the front!
E8446743-CCA4-4673-957B-5EC76AEE5448-11404-000006EE716AEE0A.jpg

The fronts required a grand total of three bolts! Almost made the mistake of lettin the bottom arm drop and ripping the driveshaft out! Close but managed to save it :p
14FEB456-97D3-42F6-892D-7E85C8E89468-11404-000006EE7D3C16A6.jpg

Then to slowly ease the strut down....with an impact wrench ;)
68FCC8B1-7972-4A05-A7B7-936336C57C29-11404-000006EE8393A3B3.jpg

Repeat on the other side and pow, lowered in just under 2 hours. Not bad considering we had never done it before :D

I decided to try and fit my new wheel, but after 2 hours of battling with the airbag ring I conceived defeat and the next morning ran off to Karlj for some help. After some strong words an a little rain we got it off and bolted the wheel on! Then looked a little like this...

Then I went off to the scrappy to get some black interior trims (grey was too cheap looking) some nissan and micra badges and a GA16 airbox and wibbly pipe as that's what I understand to be quite good for power, also with my K&N my fuel economy is a constant downwards spiral :(
Found some micra's in sorry states :/
D97CAD51-883A-42C1-A4CD-ABEF78B1E804-11404-000006EE8F92BAB0.jpg

^Took the centre console an speedo surround out of this one^
But this one really had been done over...
7998F547-DA01-40B1-BEFA-B91AC2601A09-11404-000006EE9968D789.jpg

Found everything I wanted (except a wrap around spoiler) and came home and fitted it!
D1377D10-C09F-40D7-A356-BF169A072318-11404-000006EEA85ABA52.jpg

Duct tape to seal all the holes! Solves everything <3
Then fitted the interior trims
F45E8E6F-5A6B-42B9-8C40-7F0FC56F2702-11404-000006EEB74270E5.jpg

Really made a world of difference!

Sunday I went about painting my pulsar calipers!
Wire brushed them all down then 2 layers of red oxide as primer to for a deeper colour!
54A9B1AD-8A5C-463D-88F3-107B80526773-11656-0000070812700B11_zps8f38606a.jpg

Went out the garage to leave them to dry and found my dad on the roof...

Then after an hour went back and jigged the calipers and carriers up with cable ties to the ramp and painted them!
Lanyard soon broke so opted for full cable tie arrangement! :p
E6EF2421-1155-4621-97C0-8A3BAB50BFAF-11404-000006EEDB2BD20F.jpg

Quite a difference between the caliper paint and the red oxide!
0A7BE56B-F0FA-4392-AC03-765733EF367A-11404-000006EEE2C604D2.jpg

Quite happy with the colour nice and glossy :)
Not too happy with the state of my hands. Next time remember to wear gloves!

So all in all that's me up to date :)
Thanks for reading :)

I will try sort it out, it's such a high quality it takes forever to download! Some really good initiate car footage though :) can see why people use the micra for rally cars. And I wasn't hitting it, just a little love tap ;) haha.

Thats what i tell all the birds..."its a love tap sweetie, you'll be fine"

I have decided next exterior mod is to be a wrap around boot spoiler, I do have the little flat top micra one I bought but I dot think it will give me the look I want. Anybody have one going they are looking to shift?

I know Christmas is coming, so I think my car has decided to put its lights up. Oh the joys of modifying.
