Also as promised we (Chris and I) went to Snetterton on Sunday to take part in Sccon's (www.sccon.co.uk) autotest. Here are the photos we took the hire car that is just about finished to give it a good shake down.

Here is a video of the car in action http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RUWvGQPCbQ

Also Alex the Jnr F1000 driver who's car is pictured on this thread won his first rally on Sunday, so well done to him! a great result and hopefully the start of many more!

This is a video of Alex in action on a test day, Alex is 16, and did his first season last yr aged 15 and finished 4th in the championship;

Well its been a busy few weeks to be honest,

The hire car was sold this weekend, some of you might have seen it on ebay. Here it is;

I've sent up a new thread for Chris's micra,
http://www.micra.org.uk/threads/37160-Chris-Hardmans-grasstrack-micra

I was out a couple of weeks ago with Alex doing a two day rally pics here and a vido of the on board action.

And my old car was out doing a rally last weekend on the Lee Holland stages.

25149_10150180059945215_636655214_1.jpg

As far as the build for my road rally is going, well I hope to have it on the wheels this weekend so that I can take it to have the roll cage fitted, so I will take some photos of it then.
So far its got the Bilstien and Eibach rears fitted, floked dash, and I have been putting all the lines inside the car. I hope to have it ready for Sept as thats when our 12car season starts, and then do some night events in it.
What else have I got, well I plan to fit the following;
Super S front and rear bumper and spoiler,
Front Bilstien coilovers,
tank guard and sump guard,
I have a pair of Sparco Pro2000 seats
flocked dash,
The cage is being fitted in May, painted white to match the other micra I have,
100nx calipers and vented discs,
AP bias vavle and hydraulic handbreak,
all sound proofing removed,
for the time being I think that's it.

Not sure what I am doing engine wise, tempted to fit a CGA with the non-coil head to the engine. I do have a 1275 and box that I might use for the time being.

For the stage rally micra I have a set of 773 cams to go in the 1.4 CGA engine and a ported and flowed head with the face skimmed.

Its just having the time tbh.

ok, at the weekend the jnrs had a round at blyton, and a few had some offs, like this;

And this

_MG_0682.jpg

But others did have a really good weekend, for me the next time I am out is mid May and ill be the Navi for Alex again.

So I spent the weekend getting my car on its wheels as you can see below, its now going next week to have the roll cage fitted, and then back to mine to get the engine and rest of it built!
The cage I am going to paint white before its fitted, so thats a job for this week. As you can see from the other photo work has already started on stripping it so I can get the best most useable bits off it for the other car.

The other photo is of the tnak gaurd it had a big crack in the front of it so I I've covered it in carbon fibre cloth and resin and it looks really good.

Yes it is an OMP cage, its only for road rallying so all the trouble with the front legs etc wont be a problem. A harness bar is a good idea, Ive got one on my stage rally car.

Right quick update, car is ready to go and have the cage fitted this week, as you can see I have painted it white, it was silver and that wasnt the best finish IMO, so its on the trailer and ready to go to the welders, he is also going to fit the seat bars for mounting the bucket seats that I have.

I also got the engine and box out of the doner car, the plan is to take the rest of the decent bits of the doner and then take it to the breakers yard as it is rotten.

hi, just getting bits ready to build the car and thought I'd take a few photos of parts that I am going to fit to the car that arent standard,
Its the front to rear engine bay subframe, as you can see from the photos, one is standard, and the other two are modified. One has a plate welded the other is renforced at the bolting part see photo.
The other photo is of the rear gearbox mount, as you can see one is standard the other two arent. The other photo is the engine mount from the gearbox, against a standard one. And then the last photo is all the mod'd bits painted and my disc'd works rear beam, my plan is to fit my rose jointed rear link bars and I am just fitting NISMO bushes to the engine mounts now.

A bit further back in my blog you will see that I blew up an engine or two :laugh: in my road rally car, well this is the block from the first one that I blew up. As you can see piston is proper f*^ked! funny thing is it still moves up down ok! I thought it would have been all melted together. Do you think it could be used again, well its off to the breakers soon!

Well after a weekend of clearing out my garage I can now see the floor!!!

I have a micra shell full of bits that I am taking to the breakers tomorrow, about 6 flywheels, two engines and gearboxes that are knackered. Exhausts and others bits that I can get rid of.

But in tidying up I found a set of rear calipers for the rear beam below so my hunt for calipers have stopped! Yay!!! (Y)

Now planning this weekend to finish painting the cage, get the car up off the ground again and start fitting this rear beam, rose jointed link bars, and Im waiting for an adjustable panard rod to arrive. Fit the tank with the guard and then start at the front of the car.
It will be running vented front discs and I have a set of calipers for that, and Im just finishing painting the front and the rear calipers now.

DSC00355.jpg

I'll be interested to see if you can get a fully spherical jointed rear end to work. Because of the way the multi-link rear is set up it relies on flex in the rubber bushes. If you replace the bushes with spherical rod ends you only end up with about 4" of suspension travel before it all binds up. We figured to get it to work means either refabricating the top links so they run parallel to the bottom links or doing away with the panhard rod.
Good luck. :grinning:

serious skills
who was in the micra that didnt spin?

Me and Alex (Mudcred on here) who I co-drive for! Only 17, and has been rallying since 15!
Henning Solberg said he's a star of the future, and he will be doing the BRC next year in a Suzuki swift cup car!
