This is a good project,
Loads of pictures :)
keep it up !
great blog mate, cant wait to see whats next (Y)
looking good so far mate keep it up
thats a very comprehensive blog bagas
very impressive (Y)

Thanks for the comments. I try to show everyone what i've done to the car.

One question, when you put 1.6 (GA16E) throttle body, you source it from which car? Sunny N14, Almera N15, Primera P11 or P11? Does 1.4 throttle works too?

Best regards

Best regards

maybe you have GA15,s over there ? same 50mm bore as my almera one but the GA15 is a direct fit (same 1 valve idle control setup, whereas i had to cut my 2 valves off) :)

looking good there Bagas (Y) i've got a couple of questions though .....

- did you do the mapping yourself or did you get a tuner to do it for you? if you did it yourself was this your first time or are you relativly experinced?.

- how easy is the nistune system to use?. i see your using GA16 injectors, but i didnt see an AFR trace on your dyno sheet - was it easy to adjust the mapping for the increase in injector capacity?. does the nistune board allow you to adjust the rev-limit too?

- is the fuel pressure regulator your using fixed rate or rising rate?. did you alter the mapping to account for this?.

sorry to get all technical, but i really fancy trying my hand at tuning and mapping myself - seeing as you've done most of what i've got planned i couldn't resist the chance to glean some info

No, no GA15DE over here, only GA14DE or GA16DE, which one is the better?

No problem on asking...

I have no remapping background, but in learning alot. I need a wideband to go further,
because i only made some minor changes to the maps, like raising revlimiter and
speedlimiter. Check NIStune site, they have a lot of manuals about how to map...

The Dyno sheet does not have any AFR trace because that dyno dont have such a
thing. :( Im using 3.0bar/3.5bar on the FPR, but the big injectors are overridden
at bellow 4.000rpm, the ECU only goes open-loop above 4.000rpm. I can still have
some good consumption values, at 6.9L/100Km, something like 34 MPG... (Y)

all the GA (almera/primera) ones that i have seen looked the same bagas, i had to cut the 2 idle control valves off and refit my CG one remotely (circled in the pic), and also cut the water heated circuit from the back, and altered the throttlecable bracket, disregard the 5th injector tho (square in pic) :)
http://www.micra.org.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=13386&stc=1&d=1249920548

I was asking that because on Nissan Parts Catalog, GA14DE and GA16DE throttle boddies have different part numbers...
And on scrapyards here, there are only Sunny/Almera 1.4, not a single one 1.6... :(
Is there any way to connect the Micra loom into GA idle control valves? I really dont want to cut the throttle body...

Thanks for the pics, seems that you have pics of every single part of Micra (Y)

there,s a thread somewhere bagas (3 or 4 months ago ?) where i think i figured out which wires to splice together to work the 2 i/c/v,s from the CG loom, but i think the valves hit the fuelrail anyway tho ? .
iirc somebody modded their manifold (angled the face backwards maybe, or raised the t/b ?) so that everything cleared ok :)
edit, this one i think

Frank, many thanks again. I will source a GA throttle body and try to make a clean install. (Y)

now thats what i wanted to hear!. :grinning:

i skim read the nistune manuals when i first found out about the type 5 being developed, and although it seemed pretty complex i'm sure that with the right kit and a bit of patience and dedication most enthusiasts could do it themselves..

kudos on getting out there and getting this done pretty much solo - i'll be keeping a close eye on this blog (Y)

Thanks ;)

Type 5 board is under development, its for Pre-Facelifts, but Type4 board is already available for Facelifts1 (it was intended to S14a, etc...).
They dont have that on their documentation but they manage to make it work to Facelifts1.
What Micra do you have, Pre-Facelift or Facelift1? Facelift2 dont have any easy way to be remaped :(

Will be putting 1.3 engine on early next year, so, only on that time i will buy the Wideband to make the remaping very easy...
With all the parts needed and some time, everyone can map a car without much hassle, you should try it... (Y)

my cars a '99, so should work with the same board you have (although i haven't opened the ecu to check). i have alot of work to do before i need to remap it, but having had my hours at work slashed, and needing every penny i have to pay my tuition fees next month, pretty much everything has been put on hold sadly - i'm looking into the Do-It-Yourself route (alla Frank), but still need to save for tools....

still, seeing that it can be done has cheered me up no end

and good luck on finding a upgrade throttle body - i take it the nistune software can automatically recalibrate the fuel map to compensate for the increased airflow?..

Dont worry, i have my car since 4 and half years ago, and only in the last months i begun to change some parts on the car...

Yes, if your Micra is a 1999 one, you can put the same board i have, you just need to have some soldering experience.
NIStune can compensate the increased airflow, but automatic recalibration doesnt put everything right just on doing that.
You got to connect a Wideband sensor to check the mixture and adjust the K Value in order to get it right.

bagas your mods are impressive. what ideas you got for the supercharger you gonna stick it on?

Thanks. I will put the supercharger on a forged 1.3. The rods are already ordered, the pistons will be ordered next month. I will use 1.2bar (SC @ 14.000rpm) on 8.1:1 CR, good for 200hp (in theory).

Thanks. Dont know, it has almost 81hp and does 9sec 0-100kmh (0-60mph), but now i have 1.6 TB and Wideband, i will remap it soon, hope to get some more horsepower. Regards

Yes, 16sec on a stock 1.0. If you check the videos on the beginning of my blog, i was doing 10sec with just Janspeed, 1.3 cams, pod filter and cut-out removed. I can keep up with 1.5/1.6 100-110hp cars... Now i have more mods, and with a remap i think it will unlock some hidden power.

What will you do with the 1.0L ?

that is promising. do you have two cars then? im confused now?

Just one Micra atm (Facelift 1.0LX), but im trying to get an 1.3SR (same ECU used on Facelifts, and NIStune can be used).

The current 1.0 will be stretched to the limit (1mm skimed and ported head, 260º/10mm lift inlet cam and remap) until the Supercharged 1.3 gets in.

If anything goes wrong with this 1.0, i will swap for the other 1.0 spare engine, but sooner or later the 1.3 goes in.

ok i see what you mean now. cant wait for that mini supercharger to go on a micra 1.3.

I want the supercharger project done until summer... Lets see how it goes.

i also had a 1.0 turbo for the fun of it lol and also had fast 1.0l running a 1/4 time of 17.2 ;)

1.0's are great fun, cant see other 1.0's giving so much fun as Micra gives... Must do a 1/4 mile to see what it gets :p

Awesome blog, great with all those pictures. I was wondering, are those calipers from a 1.4 or 1.6? I picked up a pair a while back but the coding seems slightly different than yours.

Made some changes to the brake system, the pads were like sh#t, changed them with Bendix Pads, Discs were mounted with the grooves pointing forward and were put the right way, pointing backwards, and the most important, the brake lines on Primera GT Master Cylinder were mounted incorrectly, the front left wheel was braking less then right wheel, its ok now and braking real good.

An alarm was also mounted, i was getting real trouble with the OE central locking, but a friend helped me and its working just right.

Changed the trunk dampers and put the Facelift 2 chromed grills:
