Micra engine rwd conversion

Hi everyone! Has anyone ever turned a micra engine into a front/rear layout, like how they turn Vauxhall red tops to put in mk2 escorts. If anyone knows of this been done before I would love some tips etc..

Not quite the same though eh. The escort is rwd to start with, and the red top mates easily to the gearbox due to the custom bellhousing. There's nothing like that for Micra.

The Datsun 1000 b10 was actually the car I was going to put it in. My dad and I have between us have the tools to make the mountings and gear box conversion plate etc.... The thing I'm not really clued up on is electrical components, apart from getting a standalone ecru is there anything else I need?

What's on that conversion page is all I know I just remembered coming across it. ;)

That said I'm doing a CG13 into a mini and I intend to run most / all of the micra engine loom including ECU and it has been done many times previously.

I can't see any reason a change in gearbox would effect the engine or ECU, there was a speed sensor on the micra speedo but my understanding is it disables fuel enrichment at higher speeds and many unplug the sensor because it's basically a economy thing.

As mentioned on that page dizzy clearance could be an issue unless you do a coilpack? but perhaps watch out for NATS?

Marsh Motorsports still exists and that wiki said they had kits to do a conversion to RWD gearbox perhaps it's worth a ring or email?

Wow definitely worth giving an email, would save us time and effort! The only problem with it is the import costs for the kit and the car. What kind of prices would you be looking at for them?

Sounds like an interesting build with the mini! Should go like stink eh? I'm currentlying building a k11 junior rally car for next year, I was planning on putting a build thread up. Would it be better putting it in the motor sport section?

I have nothing to do with Marsh Motorsports or the kit (if they still or ever made it) but I definately think it's worth investigating... importing a bell housing shouldn't be too bad, how much it might cost I don't know.

My experience is it is easy to underestimate the amount of work involved in something like this, my mini is turning out more work than I thought.

I learnt to drive in a datto 1200 ute and they are still a favourite, I think the CG13/CG10 / CGA will suit the B10 as a revvy light engine that won't over power the car, similar reasons I chose it for the mini...
