March turbo

I thought its about time to start a blog for my march turbo. Ive had it for about 2 months now, and its been a looong few months. I had a lot of pictures but my phone corrupted so iv lost a lot of interesting images. (I apologise for the image quality, my phones naff)

Heres how it stood when I picked it up..

After the 400 mile drive home, something wasnt right. Then it started to smoke like a train, I gathered the turbo popped. So £400 later I had it rebuild..

Still wasnt running right, so I did a compression test, cylinder number 3 was down a few bars of pressure, which wasnt good. It also explained the melting of no 3 spark every other day ! So I bit the bullet, and had a full motor rebuild. Which came in at another £1500. as an 18 year old, I bit of more than I could chew really...looking back at my recipts of the last few months is very depressing. Anyway o got it back all fully rebuilt and shiny..

Although, it still wasnt firing right...it all came down to the valve where my hand is. The pcv valve, I though this was just a breather and could be taken of, turns out the engine needs that air pumped through that and back imto the mani.to run :D after that minor setback I started running it in, only to have it start cutting out and not start...so I stripped the loom back to find nothing, turns out the fuel pump earth wasnt connected right

Finally though, its running crisp and I can enjoy my expensive micra. Here are a few pictures from the other day where iv polished her up...inside still a mess where my dog has tranfered the beach to my car..

yesterday my wheels came. but, the pcd is 4x98, which I thought would fit. But as nothing.is ever simple for me, they.dont...so I need to get them drilled..heres what they should look like..

So now im waiting on sorted my life.out and getting the wheels on,
My wishlist for the next few months stands at..

Coilovers
Full stainless
Bigger turbo
And getting a better sound system with a large dvd headunit !

Tis a beautiful car.

Shame about the loss of photos and that cost! Glad you stuck at it, those wheels will make it look even nicer! :D

Cheers guys :)

Yeah, my luck this year has been s##t.. But im building my photos up now, so there will be more to come !

turns out that 1.6mm counts...

the wheels as they stand, will not go on...thought they would be easy enough to get on as iv seen a fair few micra's with superlites and starmags.
could be a drill/file job perhaps ?

wobble bolts?

I thought that at first, but the k10 (probably just my car ha) has studs, and the bolt holes in the wheels wont quite match with the studs...i can get the wheels on the 2 studs, but the other 2 are having none of it

Enlarge the holes maybe? No pcd change just use a well centered countersink bit to open them enough to clear then use wobble bolts.

aye, a 1mm offset will be easy to file out, then re-cut the countersink,s
i ran a pair of 98mm fiat wheels for ages (with a bit of fettling :) )

hmm alright cheers for that guys, you have given me hope ! haha :)

hoping i can make something safe without using wobble nuts possibly, because they're so damn expensive and im el'skinto now :D

I'd love to see this car first hand, always wanted to own one with a digital dash! Make sure you come to JAE

whens that, is that in septemer ? Im aiming to be on the cornish JDM car club stand at jap fest next week :)

Had my wheels drilled today and they now fit on the studs, just waiting on some internal drive nuts because its quite close with my nuts..when i say close I mean pretty much flush with to the tapered lip :D fingers crossed they'll be on saturday

Come over and see us then, few of us going down :D

Awesome car mate, I saw this on instagram, whats up with the UK spec boot?

EDIT: Comes up as a Micra GSX auto apparently so was it converted into a March? Sorry if I offend.

It's gotta be arches, take a look at my old blog 'porks k10'

Bit of a hack job but only way round it, especially if you go Lower

Cool car though! :)

hmm i saw that, where did you get your arches from ? Only problem being that I have pennies leading up to japfest !
Im tempted to try and get these arches flared a bit more, because they look a lot more flared then standard k10 arches dont ya think ?

cheer man, UK boost spec ? you've lost me (its to early for me) haha...
Yeah it was originally auto, they came in auto or 5 speed I think...cant really find much history on them :(
It was messed up by the DVLA on import, I know of quite a few people with wrongly declared cars ! There fault, not mine..although if it came down to it I know they would say its mine aha

I think the fronts were looking like they could be flared on my old car, but I had a few degrees of negative camber bringing the tops of the wheels in, there is a way for doing the rears the same, but difficult and costly.

If you did go down the arch route, be prepared to take a lot of metal off the arch, folding and welding it all out the way off those wheels. Otherwise the first bump you go over will grind you to a hault, (I found out hard way!)

ohh really, that sounds messy !
Ill have a shot at rolling them first then, I guess if they need to be cut it wont hurt trying..

managed to roll the arches on my datsun with a scaffolding pole - it actually worked :D

Cool, I'm there too so will keep an eye out for you. JAE is in September yeah, so make sure you're there with us

Did some things today. Wheel things. Spigot rings arent here after a week of waiting, my patience is fine...so I thought screw it !!! :D

When it came to fitting, I thought there would be a lot of play, but nothing really, id say the old wheels had the same amount of play to be honest...
And on that subject, tsw's anyone ? ;)

Next up is a full stainless, intercooler and slightly bigger turbo ;)

Ahh I see..

I wanted to try and get hold of a bonnet with a scoop aswell, that would be perfect with some piping straight to the filter if you get what I mean ;)

Does it have a super charger mate? Could be the Figaro engine.. You can fit front mounts on them. I have seen it been done before.

Nah man, yeeah this is just the turbo'd march, same as the fig. As far as.i know you cant get them for them. Its gunna have.to be a little universal intercooler, or a diy job with a diesal turbos cooler :)

You can use the small intercooler kit on ebay. Sit it in the front bumper on the cross member and the pipes will go round the gaps where the wings join :)

That's how I originally done mine....was a lot of pipe tho and made it a bit laggy, that's why I put mine where grill was as to use minimal pipe....and look cool on my eyes ;)

Could have sworn all the turbos came with supercharger and turbo? Not going to lie this car seems as if its got a very misty history.

That sounds good pork, ill probably look at mounting it around the grill.

I need it to be hidden really...if any one asks it's just a gl micra  ;)

You're think of the superturbo :)
There is a march turbo it was only sold in japan iirc. The same engine that is used in figaro's :)
