Well I'm stunned! Callum, what did you paint the rear drums with, a yard broom and tar? :eek: You really need to get that paint off of the face that the wheel bolts to, you ideally should have cleaned the outside of the drums with brake cleaner, wire brushed them then sprayed them with high temperature caliper paint, masking the mating face with the wheel.......

Couldn't agree more with John :D. Youth of now days, everything fast, without thinking ahead.

Callum, after your paint work, remember to tighten rear wheel bolts few times, you will be surprised how much paint gives up ;)

Well, you wire brushed drums really lightly, based on final result, that looks like layer of rust preventing undercoating :confused:
Angle grinder or power drill with round wire brush and really heavy brushing, like in YouTube film that I linked.

It looks good with the weels fitted and I'm happy with how they look with the weels on. I do understand the concerns on that, but it's the only job I've done myself and with twisterboy and it felt good doing something on the car myself. It's now pritty much finished and looking good.
The car is now washed and cleaned ready for a meet tomorrow evening.
Have you or are you planning any more mods on your car?

Sound proofing on going and K11 Micra badge finally installed to trunk lid :D

Result of paint is up to you, just check tighness of rear wheel bolts few times!

I have fitted the 160 SR springs to my Sport+ now, along with a pair of Koni rear shock absorbers and 20mm rear wheel spacers,

what a difference it has made to the handling! :cool:

Incidentally this is what I would have expected the rear drums to have looked like after painting,

will probably do mine in the next couple of weeks and will be aiming to get a similar finish....
 
About the brake Drums and calipers. All you need is some rough sandpaper followed by a fine one, degrease it with brakecleaner. 2 layers of primer (spraycan) and any desired color (spraycan) 2 - 3 layers
You dont need any high temperature paint.. since drums and calipers will not heat up all that much when used for every day driving.

However, taking everything into account you have done an ok job with it. I agree with John about the drums but take the constructive criticism and learn from it buddy, I also agree with Mika, your lowering springs do not seem to be correct however if your happy with the figment then that's all that matters.
Shame your in Scotland would have been nice to see it in person.
I was once a a K12 hater but since I inherited my daughters sport+ I seem to have grown attached. I have big plans for her but need a little cash first, once I start, I'll create a blog also for you all to help me on my way.

I am thinking of going to one of the meets in England. Possibly the Sarbourgh one and possibly a Japfest. Some are just too far though. Could possibly see it there.
 
The old project was sold due to a bad situation that happened.
My new baby! From Japan via the states apparently! Bought from a dealer in Northern Ireland. Needs a tidy up and clean. That will be done once registered. Along with gel plates, an original steering wheel, white rally style mud flaps and black heater dials.
The flaps have arrived and the back passenger window sticker removed, as it was in a bad way and none on the passanger side. I’m going to get the stickers/decals tidied up as just want to freshen it up!

What happened to your Micra? :oops:
It was 'mirror image' of mine.
For those of you that are wondering, our Micras were same year, model, color.
Callums right hand drive, mine left hand drive :D
