K11 Starter Motor

starter motor finally failed, has being getting worse over the months, now when you attempt to start nothing happens, even with jump leads, so assume its not the battery, is it possible to remove the starter from above and is it easy to refurbish, with basic tools

getting the motor itself out tis pretty easy.
prob need to remove battery tray and clutch cable bracket for more access.
just need 10mm & 12mm spanner/socket for the motor connection then 14mm socket to unbolt motor from gearbox.

maybe connect it straight to the battery to check it works

with some small socket/spanners and screwdriver (preferably impact driver for the stubbern screw holding the solenoid to the casing) tis easy to take apart. the contact brushes will be tricky to reinsert so requires patience. may save few quid if it just requires a good clean

easy and quick route is obviously replacement
