Hi,

A very inexperienced K11 mechanic here!! Need to change the fuel filter but can't seem to locate it, can someone tell me as I'm being gassed out at the wheel as the smell of unleaded is overwhelming!!

are you sure its your filter thats your problem?

If you smell fuel inside the car then thats a serious problem, check your fuel lines also!

the filter is located on the 'back wall' of the engine bay on the right hand side about 6'' down from the top.. its a small, silverish in color, metal Can with a black rubber hose going in the bottom and top.... Its got a bracket around it holding it to the back bulkhead...

>take out feul pump fuse under dash fusebox...
> attempt to start the car, it cuts out, repeat until it wont start...

>get two clothes pegs on the downward fuelpipe just below filter...
>same add two pegs to topside aswell..

>have a container ready for some minor spilage...
>unscrew both top&bottom...

Use molegrips and prise the filter away..

all in reverse for new filter... put in fuse and start for a min, give it a rev or two...

now turn off and check for leaks , tidy it up and there you go...

hope it goes well

Also are you sure it's the smell of petrol?

My escort filled my car up with Carbon Monoxide when stationary, that was due to a dodgy fitted Manifold!!

Petrol fumes in the car doesn't really sound like petrol filter though!!!!
