K11 CVT problems?

Three weeks ago, my N-CVT light came on. I turned the car off and back on and it's never been back on since. However, on about 5% of my shifts from stationary to first, it judders for a second or two before it goes into gear. It climbs up the gears and back down from then on perfectly smoothly.

Any ideas guys? Or is my beloved going to the great auto shop in the sky?

Sorry but can't you see my post I put up today regarding incorrect areas?

Please post it correct section!!!

Take out your carbon brush and check to make sure it's not worn down to it's limit and while it's out give it a clean. That's the first thing to check.
I can't remember what it's called but i know there is already a guide on here about removing carbon brushes from the micra auto. If you search for it i'm sure it will pop up, it has pictures too. It helped me when i did an auto box years back.

I would but I am somewhat of an amateur! I took it to my local garage who said it sounded like a valve problem and referred me to an auto transmission place who said it would be pointless checking it out as the bill out of it would likely exceed the value of the car :S It's going somewhere else tomorrow, I'll have to look out for Micra specialist garages?

Haynes? Scary stuff lol. I seriously just drive these things. Should I get the mechanic to inspect the carbon brushes? I'm in North London, anywhere come recommended?

Hmm, haynes do some decent DIY manuals, maybe theres a member on here that can refer you to someone, or even look at it themself (There are some really knowledgable people thats for sure), but you could get a mechanic as you say to check things out :).

Craig, don't be such a wuss. Seriously, I was "Just driving cars" until I realised I had to have some understanding of them as well. I get a manual for every car I buy, whether the manual be from eBay, brand new or from a charity shop, I always get one.

I tried fitting something completely unrequired to a car of mine during a service and regretted it so much, I went to college to learn how not to make mistakes.

Get a manual, take out what's needed, drop the fluid and get some fresh stuff in it and see if it's any good. Hopefully, you'll then gain the knowledge to do basic services and so on yourself too. :)

Can always pop it along to me. I can check the systems on the car to see whats going on, and check brushes etc.

Had a few crank oil seals go, contaminating the brushes. The transmission place is correct though, they can, but not always be very expensive to fix, and I wouldnt even consider a used box.

The k11 has an N-CVT auto box that does not use valves, it's nothing like a standard auto box. Think of it as a large, electronic version of a scooter gearbox. Do not use a garage that doesn't know what car they are dealing with.
