K11 1.0 16v low clutch biting point

Hi Peeps,
this is me first post, so please be gentle!!!

Wife has just purchased a little 1.0 16v SI 98 vintage Micra for her and kids to run around in. Everything fine ......except the clutch biting point is very low, and there is very easy to stall.
Now, i know its difficult to diag with just a description, but car only done 70k, so does this sound like a clutch, cable, gearbox issue? Can be difficult to engage 1st gear smoothly so wondering if clutch is not clearing properly or some crazed grease monkey has over adjusted clutch???
Just wondered if these suffer from any known issues?
many thanks in advance

yes at the end of the clutch cable under the battery tray is a sorta thumbscrew adjuster. loosen the 10mm locknut and then gradually tighten the thumbscrew and recheck the bitepoint till its between 1/4 and 1/2 way up the pedal stroke then tighten the locknut.

as the clutch wears thin the bite will get higher so cable needs annual adjustments during service

:)well done guys, yup thumb screw was so loose it was flapping about!!! And they said it had been fitted at a garage......shocking. Gonna be used as a shopping trolley mainly, however..................................I love to mod and with 3 boys, wife is out voted. This one has probably passed that stage due to more parking scars than the car park!!! However, if the wife gels to it, then a cleaner example will follow, but i will not grumble. 98 SI model, with 70k, full history and only £400 is hard to complain about.
Would love to make it pristine etc, but it would need new bumpers, tailgate, possibly a wing and paintwork down both sides. Poor thing had a rough ole life in East London for the last 7 years!
