Here in Ireland the micra is extremely popular these days for production class racing, for obvious reasons!!. No other 1 litre class car comes close anymore for performance and reliability. People are constantly suprised when they see them in action just how fast they can be made to go around a track......Just a couple of pics from over here. The 801 car is the car we (i mainly!!!) built at the start of this season and bar a couple of gearboxes breaking, has never let us down. I have raced this car regularly against far bigger classes (1400-2000cc) and pretty much won every time....size isnt everything;). The K10 was my own car, built for a laugh just to do a 2 day meeting in August this year. i ran a cg10 with a weber carb on it, engine had 207,000 miles on it...lol. It went like stink but as you can see from the pics, jealousy got the better of some people:D.

Just in case anyone thinks i wrecked a perfectly good k10....this is what i started with hahahaha. Cant beat autograss boys for a bit of butchery, wood in the chassis legs!!! I replaced the cross member with a brand new k11 item and gave hours straightening the chassis legs, it last 5 laps before it was twisted up again:(

Just had our first meeting of the year at Tipperary Raceway, K11's are pretty much dominating the junior and production classes now, a few k10's still remain. Hope you like the pictures...there are some very pretty cars around this year. We have new weight limits this year....570kg's One of the cars was weighed at 490kg's ready to race!!!! a bit under the limit hahahahahaha. Mine is 592 wet, bit more to lose before the next day ;)

they look great eh LL  you dont run as much n/s/f camber as some of them ?
They are fantastic cars, rumours around that some are costing around 5000e to build!!!! (i do find it hard to belive though). As for the camber frank, i just didnt get time to do it properly, too busy getting the 801 car straightened after it ended up on its roof 2 weeks previous (over excited 16 yr old, last lap pass, tractor tyre job...lol). I dont particularly like running too much anyway, i think it can create more problems than it solves...lol

Average lap speed for a production class micra is 51mph, that doesnt sound much but for a 1/4 mile oval its fast....around 65-67 mph at the end of the straights....in 2nd...lol

Are these cars a " Free for all" engine wise ??I noticed a race or two on TV last year and saw a red car( Bubble Micra) was nearly lapping the field !!! 5000 Euros for some of the builds WTF??? Other thing are these cars raced at the PIKE as well ?
I must say the appearance of the cars is very good.

Engines are standard (well mine is anyway) with only headskim allowed. Debates about ECU tampering keeps on raging but hopefully we can sort that side of it out this year. Certain cars are unbelievably fast but im not going to comment because i know damn well that some of them are members on here ;).

Anyway, we have/had a new tyre rule this year which nobody stuck to so yesterday i ran my car with the 2 different type of tyre available to see was there much of a difference. The video is not a race, friend of mine was out in my car and another friend was in the starlet (my old car), only messing around really, testing the tyres, the micra could quite easily have walked away in front if he wanted to.

Thanks for the Video, yes it seems quick , A friend of mine has plans to give it a try , he likes"a level playing field "at present he is researching the costs , he already has a Bubble Micra partly built , just needs a bit of a shove to get it on track.

My car owes me 500e, not a huge amount to be honest but i do have the advantage of being able to do pretty much all of it myself, the exception being the fuel tank which was made for me. I am realistic enough to know that i cannot possibly hope to be on a par with some cars but that is not why i do it. I do it because i enjoy it, not to win week in week out. If you can think along those lines and be realistic then its quite a cheap sport really

Hi guys I'm racing on the ovals in England and want to build a 16valve 1.0 micra I was just wondering if anyone knows what the rev limiter is set at on the ECU or can you put and 8valve carb on it

Thanks

You should really start your own thread rather than asking on someone else ;)
Also, there has been quite a bit of talk on the subject of rev limits lately so a quick search should answer your questions :)

Been busy this week, I am caging this for another member of our little team. Very early k11 (1992 march with 12'' wheels...lol) with 98,000km from new. Shell is mint, shame to cut it up really!!! Hopefully ready for track in 2 weeks time

I dont really do them for customers as such, it doesnt pay....or more to the point, people wont pay!!!!. I only do them for our own cars really, we help each other out in different ways

I have the limiter blanked but i can only rev to 8.5k and my ecu cuts out completely, its bloody annoying but im told that the automatic ecu's are slightly different and dont suffer with this. Still to get one and try it though
