Imp124's ST on the dyno :S

Our local dyno was having a open day today with 1/2 price power runs so i thought why not? The place was packed even though it was pouring it down. Also i felt very odd as it was the only car that wasnt a vauxhall there (the place is a renound vauxhall specialist) but they (and me!) were all suprised with the figures which was good, so without any more of my waffling here is the print:

video to follow shortly :)

it looks like a humdinger wide transition gap between the 2 chargers steve ? can you feel it holding back ?

nope it seems ok, he was changeing it from 2nd to 3rd thats why there is a big drop in the curve i think?

it is but its got P,R,N,D,2,1 so he was shifting if from 2 to D inefect making it go from 2,3 dont know why though?

you can hear it on the vid on the second run

i believe it would be to build up a bit of momentum, then 3rd (D) would have been when the graph was made.

yeh i thought that might be why, they know the tricks so i let them get on with it, just happy now i know where i stand with my engine rebuild :)

they were talking about it for ages afterwards and they all got a picture in it which can only be good

mckenziecz: i just drive the auto god knows how it works :D i was too busy fretting about it blowing up to notice what he was doing tbh ;)

im not a dyno buff so i dont know if it was at the wheels or engine but i was running 0.9bar boost

Sorry to say but imo, this will not be making 160@fly, not even close with that turbo at that boost, I even think 136@fly may be a tad optimistic.

t'was my thoughts didnt want to sound rude as im not clued up on st's yet, also i asked about their rollers it doesnt say on the print out, could be rubbish unreliable system wouldnt surprize me vauxhall tuners, i used to give them some #### as i pulled out in a 600bhp rx7 lol

Autos are almost impossible to get reliable dyno plots from anyway.

why is that so hard to believe its only allmost 30bhp over standard .. when i had it... it produced 158hp on a run. it does have a quite a few upgrades over a standard car(Y)

Erm 130 odd bhp atw is not 30 over standard the figures of bhp release by a manufacturer let's say 100 bhp is not at the wheels bhp that's engine dynomometered by the manufacturer by the time the power gets to the wheels it's more like 70bhp atw
For example my s14's first dyno run only produced 198bhp atw when it's stated 200 bhp by Nissan but at this time mine was running 1 bar of boost , and all relate mods for stage 1a just not chipped so should have been 260bhp, when they did the engine bhp it was indeed 259 bhp it lost nearly 60bhp through transmission

needs a manual tbh :( and power.. u always get ppl saying oh i dont think its this that and the other welcome to forums.. but yea some dynos are not very accurate i use dyno dynamics places like at car planet racing they do all jap import stuff and race in competitions and before my engine rebuild i got around 72.5 on my super s .. and that was before my new carb setup and new pistons and rings and a second head skim (propper one) now im getting around 80-85

ah well . longs the cars running smooth thats all that matters i rather have a nice running smooth 100 bhp than a crap running 110 .. if u know what i mean

:)
