Help!!! Putting Speakers in a K10!!

Hello,
I am by no expert at car audio, but i have a good amount of common sense. Yet even after reading posts about this topic, i'am having severe difficulties installing some 13" Alpine speakers into the Door panel of my "87 reg Micra.

I have taken some photos (links at the bottom) in attempt to make my questions clearer.

1. Which wire is Positive and which is negative?? there are 2 in the door, a black one, and a black and white one, they used to go to some bizarre connector, but i took that off as it didn't seem fit for purpose. Also i have heard it wont damage my speaker if i get it the wrong way round, but might make it sound strange, is this true??

2. How am i suppose to attach the 13" speaker, when there are no holes for the screws in the body work that will fit all 4 screws for the speaker.

3. I cant fit the speaker in (although it was the shallowest one i liked). I was thinking of cutting a hole in the plastic Grill on the panel, and mounting the speaker on that, and then purchasing a grill to go over it, to protect it. I thought this would solve both the depth issue, and the lack of mounting holes.is this a good idea??

solid black is positive, if you do the same on both sides the speakers will be in phase and won't sound weird.

Thank you ever so much for that!!
yeah phased was the word i was looking for, thank you again!!
I really am looking forward to gettin gthis working as i bought a JVC KD-G431 head unit aswell.

Regards

i have 10cm sony ones i got given for free and fitting them isnt hard
best thing to do is:

-take one speaker out
-wire up the new speaker, im sure that hose conectors only go in one part of the speaker
-listen to the speaker to see if it works
-repeat with other panel

this way you can save yourself hassle incase there is a fault you can narrow down the source

although fitting door speakers are easy, just make sure you plug them in the same way on the other door
