Help K10 steering wheel hub

Can anyone Help me I have just got a new steering wheel hub for my 1987 nissan micra colette 5 door. the trouble is the the hub does not seem to fit correctly. It does not go all the way down to the bottom of steering column there's abit of a gap at the bottom between them both, is this right?
