Head Unit Screws

Hi

On my early K11 the head unit is held in by two brackets, screwed into the head unit itself. They were fine in the original unit but wont go in my Sony. I tried popping in an old CD player at the weekend using 'pointed' screws but they were too long and killed it... I have a decent one to fit now and obviously dont want to kill it when I fit it.

Anyone else had this problem? Found a solution..?

Cheers

Need to use the cage provided with the unit, the standard headunit screw positions are further forward than aftermarket headunits so it won't sit level.

What needs you need to do is.
1. Fit wiring adaptor
2. Fit a earth cable as the micra doesn't have one for the HU
3. Fit a aerial adaptor plug
4. Fit the cage to the dashboard
5. Pull the cables through the cage
6. Attach the unit to the cable and push back through
7. Click the unit into place
8. done

OK most of that seems fine - agree if I fit a cage so dont use the existing brackets will get a better fit for an after market unit, and seems easier.

The screws on the right hand bracket seem to have some earthing function - the power doesnt work till they are in. When you say fit earth cable - would an earth wire from the new cage to the right hand screws do the trick?

ah ha - just did a forum search and I need to locate the black earth wire and wrap around the screw on the right :D

If I dont post any more - you know I have electrocuted myself...
