Anyone going up for a watch. I've put my entry in! Go little car. One but last to start but let's see how the under powered car does against the bigger machinery. Fingers crossed

Plan of things need to do before the event.
Need to remove the rev limiter to allow the car to stay on cam during gear changes (7k tops)found info on this site- very useful
Set the tracking to 1mm toe in ( my gauges only show degrees though so 1/2 degree or something)
Set the camber to -2 degrees ( got bilstein struts with the washer type adjusters and bought the eibach bolts before I realised)
Change front brake pads (1144 with gti-r calipers)
Clean up rear calipers and re new standard brake pads
Take as much excess weight out of the car
Change oil n filter
Replace spark plugs with iridium plugs (1.1mm gap)
Get yoko 21r tyres fitted to rims in case of rain. I'm going to be running hankook slicks- I've never driven on slicks before so should be interesting
Remove large dent from the exhaust by the tank where it goes 90 degrees to the car. Stone damage
Remove as much excess mud from underneath the car. So much weight in mud. Nightmare to get really clean.
Give the car a damn good clean as

Wasn't aware of a hillclimb? Depends when in august really as work most weekends (boo). That would be fun head to head. Was it done last year? If so any videos about?(Y)

Getting car Ready. Had to repaint all the floor and arches. Took ages with a brush after cleaning it again. Took it to the jet wash twice for 10 mins per go and only cleaned underneath, still managed to get 2 tesco carrier bags full of mud. They weigh a ton
Fresh paint

Lovely sticky tyres. Probably will be braking way to early for these

Lots more to do

Tried to fix exhaust. Bit rusty so couldn't split it. Ended up welding nuts to it and using a drag hammer pulled a small portion of the dents out. No good as too battered. New janspeed ordered today along with 1144 pads for the front.

Yeh think so. Hopefully will give it about 25 bhp. Well I can hope haha

Looks awesome, is that the stainless steel janspeed cat back exhaust system from Matt Humphris (the one is his pdf parts list?)?

Thanks :grinning:

P.S. i know 25bhp is a joke :p

Yeh that's the one. I wasn't aware it was stainless until I spoke to him to order brake pads. Fit it this morning. I'll keep you updated to what it's like

Just tried the car. Feels little more go but that could be in my head. Once system had got warm it's now touching the body. Needs a tweak

Tweak done. Required shortening the exhaust rubber to give sufficient clearance. Used locking wire to support each mount in case of rubber failure

Bed brakes in yesterday then took it to the lanes last night. Got the brakes hot enough to get some fade/ smell then cooled them right down do hopefully fully bed in. Last time I bed pads in normally (about 150 miles of normal driving) as soon as they got a little warm onthe first stage they cooked and I couldn't stop.
Been told to run iridium plugs. Has anyone had a set and had any good results with them? Cheers

When I bought my M1144 front pads from Matt, I phoned him after I received them and asked him what is the official bed in procedure from Mintex themselves (as so much conflicting info on internet), he checked the Mintex information paper (probably from when he special orders M1144s), and he said iirc brake from 60mph to 30mph firmly (not too hard or too light), repeat this 4 times straight after each other. Then they should be bedded in :p.

Completed the flatters. Epynt is still as crazy as I remembered. Bedded the pads in. Went out a few times. Got them hot enough to smell a few times. On epynt I cooked them a few times but if anyone has seen some on board videos of the downhills it's bonkers. Down a steep hill, over 3 blind crests, narrow track and all you can see is the bottom of a deep valley where you know there is a tight chicane at the bottom. All this on the limiter in 5th. Jesus my heart was pumping. First time just about stopped, second time just clipped the Armco barrier with front wing. 3rd time managed to stop in time. Fantastic rally. Started off car 72, after 2nd stage was 52nd oa, after the last stage was 34 oa them had 5 minute penalty. Gutted

(assuming not being sarcastic fella:grinning:)Lots of cars did retire mind you. I'd like to think I can drive to a reasonable level but there are a lot of quick people about nowadays. People who compete in track days and circuit driving are quick with a different style. Very smooth with minimal speed scrubbing off etc. Bit of bravery involved on epynt where slower cars can make up a bit of time. The micra as you know handles quite well and gives a fair bit of confidence in the corners. My car has a plate LSD fitted which allows to keep it on longer in the corners.

The first 5 cars were mk2s darrians n wrc cars- I looked like I wasn't even moving compared to them:p
Where was you watching? If uphill my car def looked pants. You going to compete in a stage event?

I used to run a 205 and loved it. Fantastic car, swapped it for a gti 6 which I did 2 road rallies- pants for the lanes but good motor. Looks like you got the best of both worlds

Which Pembrey you doing? I've done Xmas stages last two years in mk1 escort and the gwendraeth. Good venue but not very suited to slow micra. Just put entry in for patriot stages caerwent next month
