Here's a bit of a guide to finding cool stuff on ter interwebs. I don't profess to be the best but I have picked up of few tips along the way from the people who are.

A couple of general ones first, then I'll go through the process I've been using to find the contents of my recent "cool" threads.

1. Google images sucks. Unless you want a fairly general image of a car.

2. Really look at the pictures.
Lots of these cars are enthusiasts cars, often members of clubs etc. Look in the windows and around the car for club URLs, tuner stickers, meet information. Google that and see where it takes you.

3. Find out where the picture came from.
Right Click / Properties, is the image hotlinked from a site that will contain more cool? Is it from a photobucket account - If someone has bothered to self host one cool car, might they not have more?

4. Go to the place the pictures come from. Search with yahoo.jp or ebay.de etc. You might have to do a bit of detective work first for what to search for. Babelfish is your friend.

5. Blogs/online mags, The interweb is full of blogs find one and follow a trail of blogging friends, collecting picture, linking to cool sites. Here's a couple to get ya going that I know have some awesome J content.

There we go thats some stuff to get you going, now my current personal favourite http://minkara.carview.co.jp/ a japanese blogging site for the car enthusiast. This doesn't seem to work everso well through translation sites, so a good way to use it is to have two browsers open, one translated, one original so you get used to the layout and you'll eventually get an idea what to click even if you cant read japanese. The beauty of japanese car culture, as I'm sure you know, is that there are lots of western words and letter combinations to search for.

I have been using the basic search finction, for things like HK11, K11, B110, KPGC10, etc, car chassis and model numbers which brings up loads of links.

When you have got the list of links click one that look promising.

That will open that users blog in a new window. so you'll see their profile pic, click that and a window will open with the full size pic. Then you can rightclick save as, or right click properties and copy the pic url and hot link to the pic by pasting it into your thread between image tags [ img ] Pic URL [ / img] (without the spaces)

But this is where it starts getting fun. This is their blog friends list, click the link in the bottom right and you will find the blogs of all the other cool car owning friends that they have.

So carry on looking through blogs, finding and posting cool pics.

And remember the golden rule, re-posts are not bad. If it was cool enough to be seen once, nobody will mind seeing it again (you might get told it is but dont take offence just search a bit deeper next time).

Have fun.

Mark you really do amaze me with how you find these awesome looking cars (Y)

Bumping this thread in response to Karl's comment in the Billy's Miata thread.

Add to that list of cool blogs http://teamobscurityracing.wordpress.com/ and I'm pretty sure most folk must know Stance Works and Speed Hunters too.

I do spend a fair bit of time online, in the evenings I sit on the sofa with the missus. She watches ####e on the telly while I surf forums and blogs sharing the cool that I find on RR and here.

Thinking about how that was done, I get the distinct impression it can have no suspension or steering. Mad as #### though (Y).
