gearbox ratios question

i currently have a 5spd long ratio box in my K10 and it is soo annoying that the 4th gear and 5th gear are way too long.

my question is can the 4th and 5th gear ratios been changed for the 4th and 5th gear out of the short 5 speed box?

the ratios are:

short box,

1st 3.412
2nd 1.958
3rd 1.323
4th 1.028
5th 0.850
final 4.050

long box

1st 3.412
2nd 1.958
3rd 1.258
4th 0.921
5th 0.721
final 3.810

the ratios i would like using the 4th and 5th gear out of the close box and stick them in the long box would be:

1st 3.412
2nd 1.958
3rd 1.258
4th 1.028
5th 0.850
final 3.810

the box i would want would give in theory these speeds @6000rpm on 195/45/15 wheels

1st 29mph
2nd 50.6mph
3rd 78.7mph
4th 96.4mph
5th 116.5mph

this would be far better than the other two standard gear boxs which are either two short or two long

5 speed close ratio gearbox.

1st 27.3 MPH
2nd 47.6 MPH
3rd 70.4 MPH
4th 90.6 MPH
5th 109.6 MPH

5 speed Long Ratio Gearbox

1st 29 MPH
2nd 50.6 MPH
3rd 78.7 MPH
4th 107.6 MPH
5th 137.4 MPH

worth doing?? imo yes! anyone else agree? but can it actually be done?

with the correct tools gears can be swapped from one box to another, about 3-4 years ago one of the k10 owners took gears from a cherry or sunny box and fitted them to the k10 box and it made quite a difference iirc think he swapped 1 and 2nd and got the 0-60 to around 10 seconds was a blue k10, perhaps the mods mught still have the details somewhere?

theres a very usful haynes manual that is quite detailed and shows you how to overhaul gearbox's and do changes i was going to modifiy my damaged box once its replace rebuild it and make a custom one with k11 gears to add somestrength
