Gear stick play

My gear stick seems to have too much play.

It springs to centre in neutral but when in gear the stick wobbles and when in neutral if i move to left then left to centre is easy but if move to right it's stiff and same if back to left.

sounds like those plastic spacer things in the linkage are very worn or broken off,,get uder take the heat shield off that covers the bottom of the gearstick,,and check everything you can see

and chech haynes manual if u have one
