Have just set it up on a spare machine and can't belive how cool it is.

Quite cool I like things like this. I have a rack machine running smooth wall for my home network, I would have something like free nas if I didn't already use another system.

A NAS is 'network attached storage'. Basically you use an old pc bung a few hard drives in it and use it as a secure/redundant data storage on your home network.

we've been using this at work for the last year for data storage, quite a cool piece of kit.

I've got mine running backups for my important stuff, plus hosting all my music and have integrated it with ITUNES.
