Flat spot ?

Why does my car have a flat spot ?
When you put your foot down it holds back for a second then it moves .
1.3 slx 1993 .
Can anyone help ?

No mods to engine , just a jap can .
Both cats still in place .
It's a nippy little bugger but it just hesitates a little when pushed .
I was thinking of having it terracleaned , what do you guys think ?

You could try giving the Mass Air Flow sensor a clean. It made mine run smoother, although mine's a 2002 1.0, so not sure if yours has a MAF?

Terraclean on an old car may not be a good idea specially if the mileage is high, what i did i got brake cleaner spray which comes with a long nozzle, engine running keep your hand on the accelerator linkage and rev it while you spray inside the throttle body maf sensor, if you dont rev it while spraying the engine will cut out and spray short bursts.....it worked for me, also check the spark plugs for any oil residue!!! Check the dizzy cap and clean the contacts with sandpaper lightly and also check the dizzy arm ...along the line it seems like an ignition problem and easily solved...

86000 miles so not high , it's not a great problem but I want to wipe the smile off this little ****s face at work in his chavved up corsa !
20 years old (car that is ) with a driver (40 years old ) ya get me fam ?
