Fake Bov

Hey Guys

Im still a newbie so please bare with me if i seem a bit thick :)

I have a Micra K11 S 1996 :) 1.0 16V

and i want my car to have that PSSTT when i change gear...but i have seen the fake ones you can stick in your exhaust...

sounds rubbish.

then i thought instead of buying one which might not even work to maybe build and mod one myself :)

so here is a picture of the engine (took off Google Images not my real engine)

http://crayonline.com/micra/IMG_1912.JPG

and as you can see there is the air filter box
then the pipe splitting out into two from the box...

but i was wondering how it works...

like the two pipes only one has a hole at the end... which i know sucks in the air, but whats the other pipe for :S

its rather confusing,

but anyway i was wondering how the air flows, so i put my foot down the air gets sucked in, but what about when i let me foot off, where does the air go then?

does it go back out or what?

and if i could what would be the best way to possibly get some of the air coming out to make a PSST sound?

Why do it without a turbo?, plus everyone will know you won't have a turbo as your revs won't drop quick enough like a turbo would,

Upto you buddy but youl be suspect to critism from other cars on the road and will have every Tom **** and Harry trying to race and see what's under the hood :) but if you don't mind that go for it :) watch the video AJC posted, itl will have to be electronically controlled, theyr bov specialists and I'm sure they'd think of something for the air filter, let us know how you get on

Mighty car mods did two episodes about fake bov. The one posted above and then on in their Honda civic episode where they install the electronic one

or download a soundclip of a real BOV and upload it into an electronic audio playback device (like those found in talking teddys? or kids toys? or custom speaking greeting cards) triggered once when tps is shut? :p

would be hard to get right as my car dumps with some boost going through it and flutters if you dab the throttle. also it does this without pushing in the clutch or changing gear. please dont do it LOL

I'm really really glad you're not going ahead with it, mate.

Each to their own and everything but I think that trying to dress up your car to seem like it's something it's not is just so uncool. Your Micra might only be a little 1.0L, but embrace that fact! Just because it's little doesn't mean it can't be a race car too.

Sometimes it feels like a Race car by how fast that thing picks up :p, and i can get some amazing speeds out of the gears :)

other day i reached 70 in third gear just before the redline :)

Another reason right there why not to chav up your car with fake parts, otherwise you yourself will be a ricer ;)

You realise if they are in corsas they aren't ricers right! A ricer is what you are driving a small jap car and racing everyone from the lights!
Now owning a fake DV is like sticking a bunch of socks down your pants, once people find out they WILL laugh hard at you!
Why not do it properly save up and build an actual turbo micra it's not hard! There's plenty of advice on here and also your car actually will make the real dump sound and be fast as Fook!

Also only a **** would come to a public open to everyone including the police forum and talk about how they race on the street, trust me the police to check and get your IP address and prosecute

Ricers are normally found on Barryboys forum :p The usual accepted definition of a ricer is someone who distastefully modifies a car with loads of fake gear, spoilers, stickers, neons etc to make a car look like it can do 200mph and infact can't....it's not necessarily limited to Japanese cars. Evolution has seen to it that the sump scraping Honda boys have lost their entitlement to that title ;)

Speaking of things being stuffed in places where they shouldn't, a lot of 16-24 year old girls should wear '100% rice' branded t-shirts, as plenty of them insist on using push-up bras, chicken fillets to 'rice up' their cleavage! False advertising I tell you!!

Personally, I pride myself in being the anti-rice.....stickers, spoilers, weighty grp sponsons, poke, stretch, stance, girth or cars lowered to the point that they handle worse than when they did when they were driven off the garage forecourt are not welcome in my driveway

I thank you! ;)

agree with most of this with the exception of poke, there's nothing wrong with poke as long as it's done without spacers

I thank you! ;)

I agree with you for the most part! I kinda find myself being anti-'scene' now. I used to love going to shows and seeing low cars on wide wheels with stretched tyres, sticker bombs and all that jazz. But Now I absolutely hate it. If you could nail the perfect fitment on a car you were a god because only a few people did it. But nowadays every Tom, **** and Harry gets their license, buys a VW and fits cheap coilovers and generic BBS wheels... It's become way to obvious.

Give me proper race stance and a car that can outhandle the bigger boys and I'll be much happier. This is hopefully what I want to achieve with my own car! :D

camoxodka

car half done :)
 please dont do a fake bov on a micra, i have a 1.3 sr standard and it sounds nice as it is, if you want a bov then defo do a conversion or put a really turbo in, you are just going to kill the micra's reputation and just look stupid infront off people, who actualy know what a bov sounds like, and it is another reason why the police might stop you :),
keep it plain and simple :D

yeah very true :), thats why im not going to do it no more :), forget about making it look like it goes fast, lets actually try to make it go fast instead :)
