Engine Malfunction light on a K11

Have been running my car with the engine malfunction light on for around 2 years,orginally when the light came on i took it to my local garage who found the fault code and messed around with the plugs however within 2 weeks the light was back on,put reddex in my engine every so often and generally it runs fine,there is a slight misfire but i have done plenty of mileage with it.Does anyone have any experience as to why the malfunction light is constantly on but the car runs ok or has anyone else had the same problem?

When I had my 1.4 K11, the engine light came on at 30,000 miles. Garage said it was a catalyst problem and reset it. It more or less came straight back on and was still on when I part-exed the car at 107,000 miles :laugh:.

It could be indicating a faulty sensor, if the car is misfiring or jerking it may be an indication that your distributor is on it's way out. You may find this thread usefull;
