Engine hesitates, sometimes cuts out

My 97 1.L manual gbox has hesitant acceleration/jerking and sometimes cuts out usually at 20-30mph.

I was thinking it might be needing the throttle body circuit board re-soldering.


anything else worth doing like ig coil?

clean the mass air flow meter wire too with carburettor cleaner. Some recommend electrical contact cleaner.

That should do the job, give everything a clean with carbon cleaner while you're there, although there is special maf cleaner which might be worth it since it is a very thin wire and gets damaged easily

one week after repair so far so good, maf cleaner is £10 for a small can. expensive.

I recommend everybody re-solder their board even it its working okay, you can clean the MAF with the body out, not hard job. Took 30mins.
