engine dieing maybe??

ok so my car began to splutter the other day and i decided to service it as its last one was 17,000 miles ago...anyway i found oil all down cylinder 2 where the plug lead goes and the plug was covered in oil....serviced it and it was good then the next day it began to splutter again? its only at low revs..when im driving it sometimes feels like im letting off the accelerator but im not its missing bad.....and embarassing because i have a stainless exhaust system and people think im drivng a #### box:down::down::down:

is this the rocker cover gasket?
i was told i might need new plug leads or cheak my distributor?

anybody have any solutions of this ?

Your signature says it all really....

Oil in the cylinder suggest valve stem seals or piston rings, does it smoke?

it sounds like one of the "O" rings in the camcover has gone  , it may not be the source of your missfire tho

their just the rubber rings when you take off the rocker?? yeah?

she only smokey in highs revs when not warm but i got it compression tested and all ok so that means rings are ok..

they,re similar to a crankseal (that you flick out and press in the new one).
and mine,s got very high compression, but the oil control rings are worn very thin :(
