Electric car convertion?

Hi All, Is it possible to convert my micra k11 to electric ie via electric motor instead of petrol engine? As I'm in London and the fuel emission zones have just come in to effect now charging us all £13 per trip in london and by 2020 in the north & south circular aeras.

No :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
The ULEZ currently only applies to the current Congestion Zone, which would have been costing you money to go into any way. If you have not been venturing in there already you will be no worse off till 2020, when as you say the ULEZ will extend to the boundaries of the North and South Circular roads.... While my Saab will then be affected and trips to Ikea in Tottenham in it will no longer be viable, my 2005 Micra K12 will not be affected by the ULEZ at all, either now or in 2020, as it complies with the emission levels allowed. I suggest that you change over to a K12 petrol engined car, instead of the K11, sometime before the date in 2020 when the extended ULEZ comes into effect.....

While it might be 'possible', the cost would be prohibitive and without single vehicle compliance, which in itself would be very expensive to get, DVLA would not change it's emission rating, so it would still incur the ULEZ charge.........:rolleyes:
Oh and have taken the trouble to make your bold lettered bit a real hyper link that can be followed to the Youtube video. See HERE

so sorry ABOUT ALL THIS I'M BIT THICK SOMETIMES!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a common law related to Electric Conversions at European level and I don't know how this applies to UK (beside brexit).
Anyway...we are in a similar scenario here in Italy/Milan, where my K11 will be banned in a few years from the city.
Electric conversion is indeed expensive, but the passion for Micras is..... crazy.
I've seen kits around 4 or 5 K. After that, you have to go to the local Motor Registry Office and re-register the car. This part is just a few €.
You can do it also on your own and save lots of money, but DIY projects are not well accepted by the MRO so you may have troubles there.

At the end, I will definitely do it in a couple of years
It's a brand new market, with prices going down month after month
and some are also very well designed

Revisiting this thread there are a few people on YouTube carrying out leaf swaps into different cars. The motor and gearbox looks compact enough but I fear you may loose some space fitting batteries
