ECU Help needed please

Hello,

In the recent poor weather my car has sprung a leak and will no longer start. The car has spark and turns over and the fuel pump is pumping but still no joy. After some research i've come to the conclusion it could be a damp ECU? The car in question is a 93 lx 1.3 . I've just purchased a 1.0 NATS ECU having been told any ECU that physically looks the same will work. Just looking for confirmation this will work as there appears to be conflicting views and ideally need the car running asap

no it wont work george, you need the smaller pre-nats ecu like yours

they listed it as a 93 to 00 eh george the ecu,s were the smaller oblong type till 95 ish

everyone knows I have pre Nats ecu which is from L reg lx model. @frank can comfirm this ?

having fitted the correct ECU the car will still no longer start any suggestions? got spark and turning over freely but no fuel making it to the plugs. Fuel pump is audible when ignition is on . Any help would be greatly appreciated ! thankyou

fuel pump ? Fuel relays ?

Fuel pump fuse check that first, even sparks plugs workin, wouldn't show anything a bad dizzy cap can stil show up very low Sparks and won't start the car up,

open bonnet and it's near the battery on the right side user a black cover, and also check the fuse for fuel one its in the dash on the right inside car, for the fuel pump u will need a multi meter

can u see that under your bonnet it's there check for any fuse burnt

Might be flooded fuel in, take the fuse off fuel pump incar, it's 20amps I think, then try to start it up,

take the fuse off inside the car for fuel only and try to start it up,

ive taken the fuel fuse out from the box next to the steering wheel and still no joy. thanks again mate !

what does it show on the meter for the fuel pump ? relays

Before the ecu went was it fine ? It doesn't seem any of the problems, u might have got wrong ecu Nats, or something esle,

Have you tried a drop of fuel down the throttlebody george ?

tbh mate im not sold the ecu did go ? ive tried the new one and no joy :/ definitely got the right ecu ! just done that and runs for a short time @frank

if u have the right pre Nats ecu it should give fuel, sparks, but readying on post it says it was damp ? Most likey it's the dizzy gone damp inside,

u have a faultly dizzy not giving full sparks,

Injector fuse then ? (corroded wires underneath it)

yes if it's going on and off for 10 secs it's most likey damp on the dizzy, and like @frank said check the wires under fuse box under bonnet where fuel fuse goes, might be even rusted

By pass the fuse with a wire if it's starts then it was that

Bad relay ? Fuel relay

Relay is at the foot week U need to take the panel off, to get to relay,

The fuelpump is controlled by the ecu george, is there 12v at the injectors ?

5v ? Don't sound right U sure it's prenats mate ? looks like ecu isn't sending the pump to give the right volts,

I had same size one but had Nats on and I found same one again without Nats so, listing can be wrong, better try my ecu

The ecu signals the injectors via earth george. And the other injector wire should be constant live (ignition on)

Red probe on one of the injectors and black probe in the ground battery post and just click the key on don't start the car up tho and check wat it reads
