Door bumper strip removal

Hi all, I have a 1998 pre face-lift model, I am looking to remove the plastic trim door guards, are they covering a hole and bolted on behind the doorcard? Or are they just stuck on with adhesive? Don't want to remove it without having to cover the hole!

Just glued on, bit of heat and will come off, leaving some nice sticky residue you'll need to remove

The paint may be darker underneath where the sun has bleached the rest of the car though, so gently peel a corner of it up and check before you commit or you might regret it.

Good idea, I did think about the colour change, my paint isn't too faded, as its been looked after and polished so It shouldn't be too different, but thank you for the tip
