Well i thought i'd have a go at doing a blog, if anyone is interested in reading

I have (despite my efforts to find a ss) a white 1.0 LS 1991.
cost me nothing as was my dads and has only clocked 45,000 miles no problems what so ever with the engine (except how painfully slow it is  )

well here it is standard

And the Wide Green Bug
the body work looks very structurally sound? and in great condition?

any plans for it??

you must be pleased getting it free of charge  (sorry)

yeh the bodywork is in good nick, a few bits of rust but nothing major.
already started working on it as you will see. :)

ok, the first thing to go was that nasty brown interior

Photo-0157.jpg

I took all the carpet out and seats leaving the door cards which i'll get rid of later. i decided to have a go at spraying the dashboard black and being a lazy git did this with the dash still in the car :glance: mistake no'1

Photo-0159.jpg
Photo-0160.jpg

The dash came out fine but it prob would of actualy been quicker and easier to of taken it out and sprayed it lol. btw i'm not as stupid as i sound here this was just pure lazyness lol.

ok i nipped down my local scrappy to look for another k10 with some better interior that i could use. found a k10 but it was exactly the same as mine with the brown interior, so with little success there i thought i'd take the grill of it and proceeded to make my own custom grill. i took a hacksaw to the grill i had just bought for £2 :D and after a session of cutting swearing bodyfilling, fiber glassing and more swearing i ended up with this

Photo-0167.jpg

as you can see i have also primed it, altho i'm not sure if i'm gonna use this or stick with the original, i'll try them both and see wich looks better.

I have managed to find myself a super s kit :D wich i will be getting in a few weeks so thought i'd get those plastic bumpers off ready for the ss kit to go on.

lmao at spraying the dash whilst in the car!!

Grille looks good though, i've got one like that in my shed :) and with the front bumper, you should take the metal support bracket off with the bumper. I find fitting bumpers easier with it still attached to it

lol i no, it was very difficult to do so i wouldnt recomend it to anyone else :glance: i even had to hold my breath whilst doing it as the fumes couldnt escape from the car quick enough  at that point i thought 'this is rediculous' but it was to late as it was already coverd in paint lol. i did a good job in the end tho :D

as for the bracket, will remember that next time

As for the interior i think i'll get all the plastic bits of trim out a GSX or super s (if i find one) but i am hoping to get black carpet so a super s would be really usefull. As for the door card's i'm not sure whether to make my own or find some others, will come to that later tho i've decided to focus on the exterior from now on.

i'm going to try and get a translucent numberplate made so i can get ride of the titties and light the number plate from behind. anyone tryed this before?

minor update
i now have my super s kit, its red atm so will need respraying before i fit it, however progress has been slow because my "mate" thought it would be a larf to crush my thumb in a door :( so i cant really do alot until i can move my thumb again :s
anyway will get some pics up of the kit later hopefully.(Y)

oh and any tips on fitting the kit would be appreciated.

It only takes about 15 mins to take the dash out! probably quicker than taping everything!

I'm liking that Grill idea

The Car will look the dogs doodahs when finished...carry on the good work! :)

I also have a brown interior and would like to paint it black...is it really only 15 mins to take the Dash off? Knowing my luck i'd break something! lol!

Photo-0182.jpg

Alryyte then, i now have plenty off funds so the body kit will be getting resprayed soon,, just shopping around for a good price, been quoted £130-£150 if i do the prep my self.

i'm not really sure what to do next tho, i'm not going to get alloys yet as i want to use the tyres i currently have as there new. was thinking suspension. is it possible to buy whole suspension kits with the springs already fitted? dont mind buying them seprate and fitting them if not. Whats the best make to go for?
hoping to soundproof and finish the interior in the coming weeks aswell

cheers.

Yeah you can get suspension. KYB and Boge shocks seem to be the best around (KYB Gas for comfort, Boge for handling) and you can get Spax springs from Demon Tweeks.

buypartsbuy.com or .co.uk (i forget which) is the best place for suspension its very cheap and the lowering springs are very good and cheap! i've had spax and compared to the ones i have now they were cack and demon tweaks seriously overcharge you!

Each to there own! I have spax springs and can't fault them for handling. It's incredible :) Boge shocks too + strut brace & Toyo's. The tyres make a huge difference so don't forget those :)

well havign tryed almost all the springs avaliable for the k10 and shocks for that matter i know what works best, the spax springs never seem to seat well in the boge shocks i noticed when i had them on my old k10 always bloody clonking when i was on full right lock... bloody annoying!

boge shocks are good but i've had several blow up on me
KYB's are very well made and so far so good with those
unipart ones cant be faulted nice and tough
nissan ones...... are crap! lol

as for springs
spax are too soft

the ones from buy parts buy are the best i've had so far but are unbranded still TUV approved though and German made so thats good enough for me.

had some cheap ebay specials once too which were pretty good but again didnt seat in the shock to well.

monroes are the best shocks money can buy super long lasting very strong and perfect fit, but they do cost a few quid

KYB are the best middle of the road shock, and the gas shocks are overated the oil ones do just fine

You what!! I've had so many people bounce my car up and down, saying how solid it is. The handling is incredible and you really feel every little bump they're that stiff.

I also had KYB on the super s i owned and i'd have to say they were designed for comfort in mind, and were very soft! I think it had KYB gas shocks too. It was so comfortable the drive from Scotland to Sussex was rather pleasant (despite only having 3 working gears) & i had an engine in the back! Ems even fell asleep! There's no way you could fall asleep in my car doing such a long drive like that, its just too rough. Even the Aktiv springs i got off ebay were stiffer than the KYB

We're wrecking your blog K10 Dave so if you want this lot moved, just let us know :)

no complaints from me mate i went for the cheaper oil ones with a set of lowering springs and the ride comfort is great for a lowered car on low profile tyres! for the money i'm very happy! cant go wrong mate!

handling wise, they are easily as good as if not better than the more expensive shocks i used in past. very little body roll :)

this should show the difference- lowered 35mm at the front, standard at the back

ah alright. had me goign then lol. Is my grey interior somewhat unusual as everyone seems to have brown? Mine was brown with dog hairs but a quick hoover solved that!

I suppose i should start one of these blogs as i've started doing stuff worth noting to mine now. Finished my ICE today =D Well to a useable standard lol.
