well those weber gaskets are knackerd! the other weber is leaking now and its now leaking in two places on the drivers side. i need to get them done asap but cant untill i have the money. i've discoverd that with them webers the car is a nightmare! to drive in a city when its dark with llights on playing music, stopping and starting is a pain in the neck, other than that tho there not too bad to live with once your used to em.

Ok Clutch!! yep its slipping (the current clutch is 4 years old!), will start with the engine rebuild next week, new clutch is a must! gearbox is whining slightly but not a worry at the moment would really love a fifth gear, back box is knackerd (still standrd), air filters are knackerd, webers need sorting..... will be sorting all of this next week so expect performance to be improved by quite a bit after that however even so i still think that it just needs a little more grunt then i'll be happy with it. :)

Get the head skimmed, polished and ported, angle valve work, cam lightened and balanced flywheel, lightened bottom end

Thats what that 1.2 i had, had...and on a 1.0 im sure it wont be that far off...;)

aye that is a problem mate the only work around is to have the car idle at about 900-1000rpm that should give it just enough to stop stalling all the time, although if the gaskets are leaking that will make the car stall also i had that problem when i first fitted them replacing the gaskets made the car run alot better. they dont cost much about £3-4 so get em sorted takes about 10 mins to replace em.

ok its booked in to have the webers serviced, jetted, balanced and tuned on a rolling road on the 11th at KAD (kent auto developments) http://www.kad-uk.com/ only 5mins away from my house! didnt know they where there so pretty chuffed ;) they also do head work and well pretty much anything even said they could build me a custom race gearbox if the i had the money (which i dont lol). well i need to get all the jets needed but dont know what sizes to get? the main jets range from 90 - 205 but what sizes should i get? they just asked me if i could bring my own jets as they only stock dcoe jets as they specialise in minis.

I'd buy a load of them if you can find a dealer...they are only like 10p each lol

they wernt easy to get mate, i used 40 gaskets in the end they still fit perfectly infact you can bolt 40's onto that manifold if your so wished ;) although i doubt it would run too well

good news on the tune up should fly once thats sorted after having twin webbers i could never drive a standard k10 again :p

yeh i think i'm just gonna get a bunch of main and air jets and let them do the rest.

will i need a different size needle valve? could i perhaps improve how the car idles by changing the size of the idle jets?

im sure they will be able to get all sorts of things sorted for you mate the bad idel is more than likely due to the gaskets leaking as i had the same issue at one point.

btw what happend to the bike carbs?

yes the bike carbs are with k10franny now, i'm very excited about KAD i had no clue that they where there and can do so much, i will get some print outs from the rolling road to see what power i'm looking at atm.

well i've had a look into it and the jet sizes on standrd dcnf carbs jet sizes are;
http://gracieland.org/cars/techtalk/weboem.html

main jet = 120
air correction jet = 185
neddle valve = 175

so i'm going to get jets smaller than this as i'm only running a 1.0

ill see if i can find the original documents as those webers were designed by AM tuning to be used on the 1.0 not the 1.2 ;) it may have the jet sizes (unless i threw the docs out)

cheers speed that would be perfect if you find them! if not i'm gonna use the charts i've found as a base, as standard the dcnf carb was not designed for a 1.0 so by that assumption, smaller jets are prob my best bet. gah i've bought a bunch of various sizes anyway and am gonna let the guys at KAD work their magic.

oh and i orderd the new air filters today :)

i've just got the ball rolling on another project aswell ;) so that will prob be ready in a few years :p nah to give you a clue KAD are going to be doing some fabrication in the engine bay for me ;)

nice work on the rocker btw ;)

The welds on the bottom of them snapped when i had them, and one of the rubbers split on the top, but none the less they still worked fine with me, i had them on and off so many times tho

well, time to confess lol god knows how it happend but one of the air filters fell off and managed to find its way out of the engine bay and under the wheel of the car. so one of them is completly knackerd despite me cleaning it up ect but its only the elements that i'm going to change i've drilled through and bolted the brackets on.

curtis

Ex. Club Member
the elements are reusable mate you just run them under a tap with warm water to clean and then re-oil them ;)

Not if you run them over with your car their not :p
The rubber around the top will have probably split doing that

Best bet is to get some new ones, like you have (Y)

OK guys as you may have seen in one of the threads i've had a bit of trouble, but good news! the cars running again and the webers are back on ;) i've fitted the new gaskets and cleaned them up and i've already noticed there running much better, but icaant get a true picture of performance because the clutch is slipping quite abit in the lower gears and the back box is ruined, but will sort these as soon a i have the money. all this depends however on my next paycheque as i have a deposite to put down for my house and if i havent earnt enough then i will have to sell the webers.

well, it kills me to have to say this becaused i would love to see this finished but the accident got the ball rolling on getting a new car and a few weeks later my audi's sitting in the drive. now i'm afraid that i need the money so the car is going to be returned to standard and the performance parts sold. my insurance renewal is on the 22nd of july (very annoyed) so i still have two months with the mica. however i will be stripping it back to standrd before then so keep an eye out in the buy and sell for some one off performance parts ;)
