PRESS RELEASE

Exciting update of events title and news of Rounds 3 & 6....

Important News: Our events line-up has now been altered to maximise our strategy.

These alterations are as follows:

1/ Title To Headline Events Announced - GT Battle...The Evolution

All Rounds will now be title headlined ‘ GT Battle...The Evolution ‘ with a grand final GT Battle event taking place at Rockingham - Round 5. This change has been made to further publicise the events line-up following on from established, successful and well received GT Battle event which was held at Rockingham last year. The NRG Events team have now joined forces with GT Battle and have therefore introduced this recognised brand into this years calendar giving familiarisation to the public and further exposure to our competitors. The GT Battle logo will now form the headline of the events to give an overall structure and identity to the calendar

Andy Barnes of NRG said ‘ Since last year when GT Battle ran the first event in Europe where drifting and Time Attack could be seen on the same day we have been working towards this as the goal for our events line-up. It is a natural progression for us to take on the successful elements of GT Battle and for them to evolve into a series of events that NRG has planned in the 5 Round Championship for drifting and the Time Attack Series. This exciting news can only compliment the strong and spectator friendly events that we have in-store for the fans of Drifting and Time Attack not to mention the exciting car club areas now available.’

2/ Round 3 Venue and Date Change

The venue and date for Round 3 has been changed. Round 3 will now take place on July 1st at KNOCKHILL RACE CIRCUIT, in Scotland ( previously Rockingham on July 2nd).

NRG’s Glen Horncastle commented ‘ This change has been made to complete our desire to encompass the northern areas of the UK and to reach a wider audience for all which until recently was not possible. It also gives a new and challenging circuit to our drivers for both Drifting and Time Attack. We conducted testing at the circuit in January 2006 as a possible venue therefore its credentials for our on track requirements have been confirmed. We are very excited by the move, welcomed warmly by our friends at Knockhill who plan to make Round 3 very special indeed. This event will be the only Summer dusk stage for this year, starting in the late afternoon and finishing around 10pm therefore a warm summer evening of entertainment is planned to make the northern round unique to the calendar and we are pleased to offer such a great circuit for our drivers, car clubs and spectators ‘

3/ Round 6 ( Silverstone October 1st ) - Cancelled

Round 6 (Silverstone October 1st) has been cancelled. The D1GB and Time Attack will now be a 5 round Championship and Series respectively with the final being held at Rockingham, Round 5 on Sept 17th, headlined GT Battle as planned above.

Andy Barnes added ‘ Round 6 has been cancelled due to transportation risks for the D1GB competitors. The 5 top scoring drivers from D1GB are to be shipped out to the USA with their cars for the big showdown in Irwindale CA for a USA vs. Japan vs. Europe D1 event which takes place in early December 2006. Transportation lead times and car preparation leaves little time for delays therefore we have no choice but to cancel Round 6 to ensure that our drift drivers have enough time to prepare for the All-Star match in December where we hope they will shine-on to show just what Europe can produce on an International playing field as they battle their rivals from around the world. ‘

It is anticipated that a demo/post Championship/Series event will be held in place of Round 6 which is to be confirmed at a later date once a suitable venue and date is located.

All alterations have been made are in the interest of the Championship and Series respectively. All other dates/venues are now confirmed and no further major changes are anticipated at this time.

To confirm, this is the revised calendar for 2006 :

Round 1 Rockingham May 28th
Round 2 Silverstone June 17th
Round 3 Knockhill July 1st Special Summer Dusk Stage
Round 4 Silverstone August 20th
Round 5 Rockingham September 17th GT Battle – The Finals
