custom speaker cover?

A few days ago I installed some JBL speakers with a mounting depth of 54mm. But what I didnt take into account was that the in built tweeter sticks out a couple cm from the front, so the original cover on the door card can't be placed over it.

Anyone has any ideas about how I can go about making it look presentable? Right now I've got the whole speaker visible and can also see some of the metal on the inside of the door.

Could always cut a little bit out of the original speaker grill?

That's really a last consideration for me. Don't think I can make it look right with my limited crafting abilities.

Sounds like that's the only option I'm afraid. This is why I specifically went for speakers of around 47mm deep so that it wouldn't hit the grill. I've had a look on the door panel and there is no way to pop it out. So you'll have to cut it out.

I'll go out and take some for you now.

As you can see it's not perfect. there's still a fairly large gap between the speaker and the grill, but at least it's functional.

why dont you put the grill what came with the speakers over it?

It won't fit properly with the original door card grill in place. But if I had only the JBL speaker grill it's too small to cover the gap in the door card. Bad situation, but I think i'll do what R-REG-SR says.
